The pro wrestling game made for the fans

Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #559

Hi gang, it’s been a quiet week – but not behind the scenes. We’ve been building contacts and spreading the word for a big second half rush. We’ve also been working hard on a big new offer we hope you’re going to like very, very much.

You have been supporting this Kickstarter in many ways: backing us financially, spreading the word via social media, passing the word to media contacts, giving us ideas. There’s no way to thank you enough for your help so far – but we’re gonna try.

Easily one of the most fun and rewarding parts of making a wrestling game is building the characters. One of the most popular requests we get is “I want to be in the game!” So we are going to share with you a piece of our dream, literally.

Starting today, we are offering you guys a spot on the Pro Wrestling X roster. It’s yours. You own it. Put yourself in the game, put in a friend, put in your awesome created wrestler you’ve been adding in every wrestling game since Attitude. (I KNOW, RIGHT?!)

Oh, and you might be part of setting a new record. (WHAT!?)

How is all this gonna happen? We will let you use our create-a-wrestler feature early. We’ll be developing it when we reboot the art and animations. Simply create your wrestler and send us the file. Do you want to get access to things like the texture templates to go nuts customizing gear, faces and masks in Photoshop? We’ll offer that too.

The icing on the cake? If we reach our funding goal, there will be enough roster spots we will likely be breaking a record for the most playable characters in a wrestling game. (GAKKK! We’re blowing our own minds with this!)

There are going to be a few no-brainer ground rules, of course. No custom animations, you have to use what we supply (but we’ll supply LOTS). You can only put yourself in the game or people/creations you have the right to use. (So no CM Punk or slightly recolored PM Monk. Our budget doesn’t allow for WWE lawsuits.) But other than that, the sky is the limit. Hell, put your brother in or pay tribute to someone you love. What a cool Christmas present.

This is cool. This is fun. This is what Wrestling Gamers United has been about from day f’n one.

How can you be a part of this?

It’s really simple – you don’t need to pledge $5,000. Not even $500. $100? Are you sitting down? For as little as $50, you are in a record-setting wrestling game. Here’s a breakdown of the additions to the reward tiers:

I’m sure you will have questions, and we’ll be happy to give you answers. And yes, we know the rewards tiers on Kickstarter are getting a bit messy – we’ll be posting a page on our website soon with a detailed information on what you will get with each donation amount, just to avoid confusion.

We’re really, really excited (and terrified) of the potential here. Again, we can’t thank you enough for your efforts so far. Rest assured we are pulling out all stops to make this dream a reality. We hope you will help us make history. THANK YOU!

In the meantime and in between time, that’s it, another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

Thank you for your support,
