I've never played it, but I've seen a few videos of it on youtube, I'll use this as an example:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42raBFk1XQ4

    *The impact effects look lame
*The camera angle is bad (might be changeable?) and makes it look like a fighting game
*The strikes make it look like a fighting game too
*The animations are ungodly clunky looking

    in this video specifically:
*The ending to the match seems ridiculous
    *The Vader bomb get no-sold

From the videos, the game just doesn't look that fun to play, and I've seen quite a few. I can't really judge the game, as I've never played it, but god... these videos make it look terrible.
  1.
I know this is one of Dave's favorite wrestling games. I've never played it but I heard alot of people say its very good (arcady)...one of the biggest drawbacks though is when you get 2 good players it becomes a reversal fest...at least so I have heard. But looking at the youtube videos you posted the wrestlers look so damn startling real almost life like.

I dunno it looks cool to me.
  2.
In fact, if i didn't know any better I would think I would be looking at an actual wrestling match...that's how realistic the graphics look.

not bad, for a game that came out 7 years ago! you can bet you A** that PWX will be a combination of this and FirePro.

dratstab, why did you pick the worse vid to show as reference?
this is a much better match: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=62LeGnjMuUI

I just picked it because I saw it had Vader, and I love Vader. I saw that one and I still think the animations look crappy. The guys face off each other like it's a fighting game, I didn't see them go for weapons, go toprope, anything really besides tons of strikes and a few grapples. It still looks god awful to me, it might be fun to play, but the videos look terrible imo. The strike impacts look stupid, makes it looks like street fighter or something. This match also had a silly ending again imo.

Well I don't speak Japanese, but I think they have SVRs commentary beat.

Oh yes I forgot to mention like the man above me said...I heard this game has quite possibly the best commentary of any wrestling game ever. This is one thing I heard this game did do right.

What platform was that game for?
  4.
This game is for the now defunct Sega Dreamcast. This is one system that had alot of good wrestling games.

I'm surprised no one attempted to really put in a good defense for this game. I've heard so much about it, but does anyone know a video that shows more versatility in the matches?

2 things I didn't like. Selling sucks. They got up right after every move, and the negative effect was really annoying.

GG2K is a game that is much for fun to play than it is to watch. You just have to try it to see what I mean. You actually feel like you struggle to overpower your opponent in grapples, there are ready moves that can't be spammed thanks to the rock-paper-scissors system, and the camera work (in my opinion at least) is better than the Smackdown games in terms of making you feel the impact and drama of the moves.

The game is also harder than hell at first and I wish you could turn off those damn lighting balls when strikes connect...

It's true. GG2000 is kinda like what an arcadey game like Smackdown could be if it were taken farther in a sim direction. It's not very deep (matches tend to be on the short side) but what it does it does very well.
