Cheers to Dave for the dedication to write newsletter #500. It's definitely a bittersweet accomplishment. On youtube, there's a gameplay clip of the progress:

However, it looks...bad, just bad. As per usual in comparison to previous gameplay clips, animations are stiff, character movements are robotic, and graphically they took a step backwards imo, as it now looks like a game made from flash. In the newsletter, Dave mentioned that they had to scrap the previous build of the game (which was nearly done) just so they can build a new engine, their engine, to support later iterations. Business-wise, it makes sense. From the looks of this clip, which shows many similarities to the previous build, that seems like a long shot. I hope for PWX's sake I'm wrong. Reality, however, is unmercilessly different. I believe it'll be hard to compete against No Mercy and the mods available, and pirates. (Look at what happened to World of Goo for example) Being an avid fan of both wrestling and gaming, I supported PWX for its cause, but not for the product itself. While I applaud Dave and crew for finally being able to shed some light at the end of the tunnel for him and his team as well as the fans, I do not have high hopes for the game itself from the looks of it. Then again, you cannot judge a book by its cover, so I hope I'll be pleasantly surprised. I've made my pre-order years ago, and I'll definitely play the game. But it looks like it'll be more for the novelty as opposed to actual enjoyment. I sound negatively presumptuous, but I just can't help but have this mentality after seeing how the product is for what it is, rather than making biased statements to defend the game with the consideration of what the team has gone through.

Thanks for writing. You make a lot of good points that I also agree with. While I won't pretend to know exactly how our story will end I do know that I need to see it through. If you were in my shoes would you do any differently?

Actually it looks really good. Reminds me of the AKI wrestling games. The first time I saw this clip I wanted to say ship it NOW. I can see a few bugs but nothing major. Not that I saw anyway.
