Hopefully not treading on daves toes by answering this...
The game is still being produced. however an independant game does not have the resources or staff of the large publishing houses. so things take longer. finally it takes a while to do as it is a labour of love as opposed to be churned out for profit year after year. although I have suggested Dave being locked in a room and only fed when each beta is produced...
There is a lot of progress being made (sign up for the news letter)
As to when it will be available I, The answer to that is the usual : When its done :D
Don't worry about how long it takes. Longer the better. Better quality, better gameplay, better playability = longer satisfaction and love for whatever else is developed.
I expect Uprising to be near ready by Mid 2012/ Early 2013. Although I doubtful of a release until later. Then again I am not on the development team. Been following lots of indie projects and mods over the past 5-10 years though. If you wanna know how close it is join us and follow it. Follow something long enough you can read in between the lines as to where exactly something is going.
Well, I came up with a very interesting theory some time ago. I thought "what if... the game was going to be released together with Newsletter nr. 500?" Just thought it was cool idea, but nevertheless I agree with DeadFire. And yes, as long as we get updates, the game is still being produced.
Personally, I don't doubt the game is still being produced. However, I would really like to see another you-tube vignette.
The last game play footage was posted two years ago, and I am not counting the thirty three seconds of various referee voice samples from a year ago. I follow the newsletters regularly, and it seems that there has been tremendous improvements, so why not let the followers of this game actually see some of the strides that have been achieved? Even if its a nominal length, it would certainly silence the lingering rumors.
Digressing from the topic, will there be a referee in the ring? I hope so, because even wrestling games on the Genesis had referees inside the ring during a match.
Besides, in the 10/11 years since the game was conceived, it's only been in actual development (and technically, this is the prequel/proof of engine to the awesomeness conceived in the wake of the wreck known as WrestleMania X-8) for the past 5-6.
fullMETAL is right. And the last year it has been down to one programmer trying to fix critical failures in our animation rig. But we've been rockin' pretty good lately and I'm assured by our programmer that we'll be wanting to share new screenshots by this weekend. So keep your fingers crossed with me that his estimate is right and I'll have a sexy new build of the game by Saturday.
@chucky: sorry, no ref in the ring for our first game. We're going old school AKI in that regard at least for now.
well DNF had 14 or 15 years of development and saw 3 presidents. this game has so far seen two and very likely weill see a third. at this point i think the fans need to see a working functioning demo. granted i know its not all on daves head or anything but still we are approaching what the 10 year mark? i cant even fathom how one can recoup 10 years of development unless your name is zelda, halo, or mario really.
Actually, it really is all on my head. For better or for worse. And luckily (?!) there has been only a total of maybe three fully paid years of development in the entire time I've been trying to get this bad boy done.
