Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #465
1) New Build 2) Bundy Fun Day 3) Action arcade Wrestling Update 4) State of the Union
1) New Build ************** Well alright, our fuzzy little programmer got himself patched up and sent me a new build yesterday. He decided to train me a little bit and teach me how certain parts of the game engine work with regard to controlling characters and their animations. Now I can go through the code myself and improve collision and animation sequences where need be instead of bugging him to do it and assuming he'll understand what we need to change. Lucky me! Not that I should really be messing around with shit too much. I'm learning that game code can be pretty fragile. I mistakenly added one extra space to the code at one point and all of a sudden all of the corner grapple moves were transporting wrestlers to the middle of the ring mid move. I'm told we mistakenly designed our levels without placing the center of the ring a 0,0,0 and that demanded we some pretty crazy calculations need to always be done to compensate. Sadly, that also means we'll need to redesign all future levels if we ever want to add a second or third ring for War Games type matches.
2) Bundy Fun Day ***************** I know when I think of the perfect spokesperson for computer technology I immediately think of King King Bundy:
3) Action Arcade Wrestling Update *************************** If you own Action Arcade Wrestling for Xbox 360 Live Arcade you should check out the latest update that improves the overall AI experience a bit and changes the default grappling system. If you don't own Action Arcade Wrestling let me ask you a question: Why do you hate wrestling games?
4) State of the Union ***************** For those wondering how big the crew is these days working to finish Uprising I'm happy to clue you in. It's a far cry from the days where ATM Dave was handing out thousands of dollars every pay day but we're getting it done regardless:
-Me! Working full time on all sorts of tasks and working for free. -Programmer. Paid a lump sum many months ago to finish Uprising. Working full time from home while he raises his 2 year old son and acts as care giver for his mother-in-law who is in failing health. -3D artist: intern working part time for free while he works full time at day job. -Eric: web/marketing/interface guru working at least one full day per week in between paying gigs. Hasn't seen a PWX cheque in over a year. -3D consultant: paid a retainer to help fix art content months ago. Haven't needed her help in quite a while.
So that's the active crew at the moment. Good times! Eric has been encouraging me to put together an actual video "State of the Union" for you guys. Good idea?
In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of Wrestling Gamers United. Thank you for your support, Dave Wishnowski
