Hey guys! Quick PWX Uprising update for you to start off this week. We're looking at adding two new move slots to the game. We have the animations already done for a running grapple from the front and back. We never did add these moves to the old version of Uprising but if we already have the animations then why not? We have a solid new system now for initiating grapples that works wayyyyyy better than it used to. Running grapples aren't technically any different that regular standing grapples so WooHoo I hope we can sneak them in there. Other move slots we may add only because we have animations and state system already complete for them are:

    -Rising attacks
    -Tree-of-Woe
    -Running evasion
    -Turnbuckle grapple reversals
-corner springboard attack to downed opponent
    -corner taunts
    -apron to floor running attacks

Again, no promises we'll add any of this stuff unless it works properly the first time. For this first game we just want to focus on getting the core basics working well. We just wanna ship Uprising, get your feedback, and make the next game. We've got great momentum going here and don't wanna stop. Also, I don't remember if I told you or not but each wrestler now has three standing strikes; weak punch (tap A), medium kick (hold A), and signature strong strike (hold A+B). For example, Dane has a dropkick, No Cara has a spinning wheel kick, and Troop has the Troop Hammer (Bradshaw Hammer).

We have a development motto that we are sticking really closely to these days. We prioritize the game tasks in this order:

    #1 Make it Work
    #2 Make it Work Well
    #3 Make it Pretty

In terms of the Uprising overall we're finally at the Make it Work Well stage and we want to avoid the temptation to go backwards and make new things just Work. Of course, we mistakenly did a lot of the Make it Pretty stage first back when we started production (stupid move) but we're on the right track now. We know we are because it sure Happy Dave.

I dunno about this. THQ just announced that you can now pay them an extra $10 when you buy the new Smackdown vs. Raw game and it will allow you to download all of the DLC in the future for no additional cost. Good idea, I suppose, if only they would tell you what exactly that DLC is gonna be.

The new Lucha Libre AAA Heroes del Ring came out this week and, while I haven't played it myself, early online consensus is that the game is not worth the asking price. What shocks me the most is learning that our little indie wrestling game made by noobs apparently has deeper gameplay than this major console release. Here's a rundown I found of the reasons people are hating on the game:

Will more striking sots eventually be made available by using directional modifiers along with button presses? Three ways to strike an opponent is better than nothing, but most wrestlers have several more blows in their arsenal.

Yeah, we built our system so that we can have different strikes depending on d-pad modifiers and distance from opponent modifiers as well. We just don't have the content (animations) for all the different strikes. We actually had to remove a few strikes because the animations were done improperly. We lost teh spinning back fist and roundhouse kick. I want the shuffle side kick from WM 2000 added!
