Welcome to Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #441

    1) Over the Rope
    2) Final Character Art
    3) No Mercy Fix

    1) Over the Rope
    ***************
My crew laughs at me. The dumbest little things get me excited like a 14 year old who just got his hands on No Mercy on launch day. This last build I got in particular had something thrown in that I didn't even know was being added. It was the simple option to jump over the top rope directly from the ring to the floor instead of climbing out to the apron first. So what, eh? But it made my day. The programmer is telling about all this other stuff going on under the hood and all I cared about was leaping out of the ring. I don't know why that one little thing thrilled me so much but you know what? I don't care why. I think if you stop getting excited about little things like that then you might as well stop doing what you're doing altogether.

    2) Final Character Art
    ****************
Jesse delivered the final two character art pieces for the character select menu today. Thanks, Jesse! I'll post one of them to our Facebook page today so swing over for a look when you get a minute. Good stuff!

    3) No Mercy Fix
    *************
Do you miss No Mercy like I do? If so, I suggest you take a look at Smackdown vs. Raw 2010 for Nintendo DS. Why? Well, strangely enough it may remind you of No Mercy in some areas more than most any other wrestling game since. Sure, the game is clunky as hell but if you're desperate you can find some fun in it. Visually it looks a lot like No Mercy due the DS limitations and the grapple system feels like a dumbed down No Mercy as well. Throw in a half decent career mode and you have arguably one of the better wrestling experiences you're likely to find on any portable system.

In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

    Thank you for your support,

Your excitement was not without warrant: with such a feature in place, players will be able to eliminate themselves from rumble matches, à la a certain Mr Savage.

I remember a german/austrian wrestler called Franz Schuhmann who used to do a very cool (very cool in 1990) slingshot dropkick over the rope and into the ring, I bet it'd be cool if you could use that animation to create a flying maneuver to the outside.
