1) Go Pro ************* You get what you pay for and this week I am very happy about the money I spent on game development pros to look over PWX Uprising and advise on how to best construct our art content moving forward. What I was once told was impossible by less experienced crew members in the past I now have working flawlessly thanks to some pricey but much appreciated new help. No need to redo animations, no need to throw out dozens of character models, no need to panic at all and plenty of reason to dance. I'll tell you one thing though, it pays to be considerate and professional because people don't want to help arrogant jerks. Because of a friendly recommendation from someone I met and was kind to almost eight years ago I was offered help from a Senior Engineer at Microsoft's Xbox division in exchange for a few Double Doubles from In an Out Burger. Karma!
2) I Owe You ******************** I know that PWX news is often vague and not always positive. Seems like it's been a never ending series of setbacks and broken promises. And for that reason PWX and this crew has set itself up to be a very easy target for internet haters and nay sayers. I couldn't help but notice that Mat Dickie is being brutally trashed and ridiculed lately while PWX has escaped such treatment. I'd like to think it's because maybe we treat our supporters with a fair ammount of respect and courtesy so you generally return the favor and cut us a break when times are tough. Maybe it's also because I'm happy to answer any and all PWX questions and remain accessible even though I'm a huge rock star now. Whatever the reason, thank all of you for being cool and extending us ungodly levels of patience and understanding. Knowing that our supporters seem to be a good bunch of people who just want us to do well makes us want to impress you. Thanks for being cool with us. That's largely why we keep going when most other people would have quit.
3) Two Weeks **************** Speaking of setting ourselves up as easy targets, I'm going to come right out and say that our lead programmer told me today that he should be done with Uprising in two weeks. Exciting? You bet! But experience also tells me that I know he's not going to be done in two weeks. Little things always come up that ruin even the wisest time estimates. So why do I tell you this when in two weeks any kid could say, "Wah hah hah! You suck! It's not done!" Simple, it's lonely here in my solid gold fortress built out of the billions of dollars in pre order money I stole from people and I want you to share my disappointment when he's not done. Or maybe he will be done. Stranger things have happened.
4) WGU let it die? *************** I renewed the WrestlingGamersUnited.com domain name the other day. I know WGU has ran out of gas since we began work on PWX and our focus shifted to making a wrestling game rather than bitching and moaning about other people's wrestling games. But I just can't let the WGU internet presence die. Can't do it. But what the hell should we do with it? I had wanted to create and online wrestling game museum but Gaming Ring is already off to a great start with theirs and even Wikipedia pretty much has all the data a nerd like me could want. And I don't really follow wrestling game news like I used to so no sense making it a news site. Again, Gaming Ring is already doing a good job in that respect. So what to do, what to do. Any ideas? Wanna help do something productive with the site? I'm open to ideas so feel free to stop by the PWX forums and let me know if you have any ideas and if you'd like to help out at all.
