I have been trying to email you for a week now but the message bounces back with permanent errors after a day or two. I have tried the following addresses:
Hey Dave, um... I tried that wishbone e-mail, but I guess you didn't get it or something. Anyways, I have a new question for you. I would have rather not put it on the forums for EVERYONE to read, but I guess this is the fastest way to get ahold of you.
I was really wondering if you know of any game studios in or around Detroit? I've asked you about going to school for game design before, but honestly, I can't afford to go to school at the moment. So, I was wondering if maybe I can find a local studio and intern for them or something. But I don't have any resources, nobody to ask. It's not like I can just google it because most studios don't just make games and they're named THQ International or something like that. (not saying that's an actual name I've come across, just trying to say that you can't tell just by the name) Actually, I realize it's kind of pathetice that I'm on here asking someone I don't, lives almost on the other side of the world, and really has more important things to do for advice. I was just thinking that maybe you've had to deal with someone from Detroit in your adventures and maybe you still have a number or something. Not like I'm asking to live in your basement...
Dave is currently on the road, and having trouble accessing the forums via his phone. He is aware of your question, and will answer it when he gets back he said.
That's fine dude, all I've got is time anyways. Actually, I got a little confused, I thought he was in Calgary first (which is still nowhere near Detroit) and then moved to Vancouver. He still might have some kind of info, but it was really a shot in the dark.
Hey there! Sorry for the late reply. I took a look and it seems your email got snagged by the spam filter by mistake. I'm afraid I have zero contacts in Detroit. Your best bet would be to contact the people that run the game developer association in Detroit and tell them your story. They be the most likely people to hook you up:
Thanx Dave, I'll try that out for sure. I really appreciate the help, even if it don't work out. So, watch your back, you've got a hug coming... um if I'm ever in your neightborhood, which I doubt, but you never know.
