Why is it every budget hotel in the middle of nowhere had free wifi but once I get to my destination in a major city they want to charge me $15 per day at a decent hotel? So this week I've got a short and badly formatted newsletter from my teeny tiny cel phone. Of course, with the roaming fees Bell Mobility is charging I might as well have paid for the wifi. Bring on the bullet points!
* Uprising load times have been reduced to under five seconds. So far at least.
* my side project road trip is going well.
* I asked Terry Funk, Harley Race, Ted DiBiase, and Nick Bockwinkle for a favor and they all said yes.
* I saw Steve Austin ask Harley Race for an autograph.
* I heard Jim Ross tell a story about putting his head into the crotch of a drunk old blind man with a gun.
* I spent an hour listening to Race and DiBiase teach young wrestlers how to get heat. Race: "I've been stabbed twice and shot by fans so I know what I'm talking about."
* I learned that kayfabe is not dead and that the more you think you're a smart mark the more you're being fooled.
* I learned that I can still be awestruck. Like when I turned a corner to come face to face with Mil Mascaras and The Destoyer in their masks shaking hands.
* I learned that over 1200 wrestlers went through Stampede Wrestling and that it was responsible for one third of all wrestling events in Western Canada history.
* I learned that when you get an invitation you accept it.
* I learned to keep my mouth shut and ears open.
I should be back home for next week's newsletter. I hope this one hits your inbox in one piece. I'm not going to even attempt putting this on Facebook from my phone.
