1) Squeel! ************************ Last week a programmer made me bang my head against a wall when he spent more than one frickin' second thinking about that stupid damn punching bag in the Hammerlock. This week he redeemed himself. Big time.
These days games try to run at 60 frames per second (fps). Our previous build of PWX Uprising fluctuated between 30 and 60 fps. Mr. Punching Bag Programmer optimized our art content and now our frame rate is hovering around 230 fps. Thats not a typo. 230 fpfs. And she's running like a dream on Windows XP, Vista, and Win7. And we have some proper shaders working so that shiny metal things look like shiny metal things now instead of dull gray things. Daddy like. This week we tweak the control scheme. Mapping controls optimized for an Xbox 360 controller to keyboard just doesn't work. It makes for a nasty and unintuitive mess. So we've devised a better way to play the game if you don't have a controller. I still prefer a 360 controller but we'd be stupid to assume very many people even have one for PC.
2) Wrestling Road Trip ***************** Heads up on next week's newsletter. I'm going to be on the road with a side project mission and I have no idea what kind of internet access I'm going to have. I guarantee this, I'm going to have some pretty great news to share by next Friday as long as I can upload it. Hell yeah.
