    1) Not again
    ************************

"Do you mind if I reposition the ladder in the Hammerlock?", said our lead programmer the other day. An odd if not initially innocent question.

"Sure", I said. I asked him why and was waiting for an answer that would get me excited. Did he have something in mind for ladder interaction? Perhaps something involving a crazy physics idea we've been discussing? His answer floored me alright. But not for the reason I was hoping.

"I just want to move it out of the way so people can hit the punching bag."

Goddamn that goddamn punching bag. It claims yet another victim.

But other than the Curse of the Punching Bag we've been staying on track polishing things up. We're down to some pretty nit picky stuff. For example, in some frames of the animations we've discovered a tiny glitch that makes the index finger of the character appear broken when the fist is closed on just the one hand. The cause of the problem (depending on which crew member you ask) was either created years ago during our most active animation period or recently when improvements were made to the model in other areas. At any rate, the fix will be easy if tedious. Some poor sap may have to go through and fix the finger at every key frame of every animation. I'd hate to be the guy stuck with that mind numbing job. And it will probably be me.

We're still on the fence about whether Uprising will be ported to any other platform at this point. We did create the game code independent of any rendering code so going to something like console or even mobile (iPad anyone?) is technically possible again. But at this point I don't think I'd be happy with a straight Uprising port. We've learned so much and want to rebuild our content if given the chance that I think anything we do in the future on another platform would be a different beast. It would also look much different than Uprising does now. I want to take some chances with visual style in the future. Why play it safe? Besides, every reason PWX was initially slated for PC remain as true today as they ever were, if not more so.

    2) PS3 refunds
    *******************
Did you know you can get a $100 refund for your PS3 without even returning it? Apparently at least one retailer is giving $100 refunds to customers due to Sony removing the Linux support for PS3. I freakin' LOVE this story. In the UK at least there is a law stating that your product must perform as advertised or the store owes you a refund. I am so sick of corporations removing functionality forceably from things we supposedly own and getting away with it. I'm willing to bet that if this was possible WWE would have removed Benoit from the most recent Smackdown at the time. It's bullshit. 100%. And it makes me wonder if the entire concept of owning games or the consoles themselves is becoming obsolete. Seems like companies like Sony and Apple are more and more treating us as rental clients rather than comitted customers. People line up to pay through the nose for the priveledge of borrowing something because it's new and cool to some. When we buy something of their's they keep our money forever. Shouldn't we expect their products to last more than a matter of a few years before they reach in and mess with them?

I'd love to walk into a Sony dealer and say, "I don't play Blu-Ray movies on my PS3 anymore so I'm taking $100 back out of your till."

Check the story here and dig our your PS3 receipt:

I'm curious about why a punching bag ? we can use that in training but its not mandatory, a ladder would be more welcome in the trainning sessions for the high flying and other H-C groups. Maybe even stock every wrestler's favourites around the place. Thats just me now, I plant seeds thats all haha.
