Yo dave I've been following PWX's progress for about 2 or so years and I remember the first time I found it on the net I sort of thought that that is another game made by a bunch of guys in someone's old basement or something. Now I don't know if that was really true back then but following u and all of the crew I actually realised that u are an organised group(sort'a) that really want to make a cool game.
I'm saying that since 2005 PWX has really grown up and I followed that progress but did any of u guys Dave and everyone else here expect that PWX will really become so big ?
  1.
Yes...I suspected PWX will become big...I had no doubts but it took a long time to get to this point...5 longggg years. But well worth it & the results thus far are very good.

When I heard about it in 2002, I thought it sounded cool, so I emailed him some ideas etc. I didn't really expect it to go anywhere though, but I respected the effort.

This game will obviously change the wrestling games for PC reputation (cuz the most Pc wrestling games sucked big time!)

Win lose or draw the game will make history. AS either a great success story or a heart breaking failure. I'm gonna bet on the first

Well it can fail. People traditionally don't like unlicensed wrestling games. I mean yes there is a market for this. But the bigger market wants WWE or to a lesser extent TNA. The hardcore wrestling fans/gamers will eat it up but the big question is how large is that group?

I mean. How well does Fire Pro sell despite its appeal? Fire Pro is a much bigger name than PWX is as well. So its a big toss up.

Can PWX succeed? With the right publisher and support in the gaming press yes. But if things don't happen exactly as needed. If PWX doesn't have a strong PR group pushing it then I can see it being a catastrophic failure EVEN IF it is the best game around. Some of the games with amazing gameplay have not sold because of dumb reasons.

I hope PWX does get the promotion and support needed to be a success. It could be a word of mouth hit especially if it is as modable as Dave says it will be and if the player community is given the ability to craft our own storylines. That would allow for a huge replay value which would be highly touted in the gaming community.

A good first step was the coverage in Tips and Tricks. PWX needs to get in PC Gamer for that real exposure and needs to get some exposure on Gamespy. Maybe an appearance at a Developer's Conference. Something to create more buzz than the word of mouth that has sustained it this long.

Having said that I wish Dave and the crew good luck. They already knew all the above but I felt like typing it out lol

Assuming the gameplay lives up to billing (no offense, guys, but I'm not going to join the chorus of "This game is AWESOME" before it's released), PWX will need two things to succeed.

1.) Marketing. Get the name out there, and curious parties will go to fan sites and figure out what the fuss is about.

2.) A devoted mod community. If a guy can download user-created arena and ring skins, plus user-created wrestlers for WWE, TNA, RoH, etc., this game will do just fine, regardless of licensing.

Agreed 100%. But I AM going to join the chorus of "This game is AWESOME" ! *winks*

Amen. If it is as modable as they hope it will be then they will be F I N E.

Storyline creation would give it Longevity. Skinning and TRUE modding where people can introduce new objects, sounds, etc would make it a dream.

Really the selling point would be its modability plus its gameplay. Thats what will move the game. Thats what will attract outlets like IGN, Gamespy, and PC Gamer.

Hopefully PWX delievers in gameplay and modability. If we get that then Dave and co has a sure fire winner

I agree that the most important thing for this game to a success is the MOD community, Yes people do want a licenced wrestling game but those sort of people wont look past the WWE games and the supposed TNA game (yeah right the company will probably be dead in the water before this game comes out) but to my knowledge non of these games are for the PC

PWX target audience is surely the hardcore gamers, that have had enough of MDickies (crying shame) and the emulated old-school game WWF No Mercy (give it up the company doesnt exist anymore) :)

Also these hardcore gamers are the same ppl that play all the Japanese games ( I am one of these) espically Fire Pro Series. As far as im concerened PWX can be a 3D version of Fire Pro and id be happy.

I dont think there is any need to try and capture any other audience because this would not be a successful venture, but on the other hand "if you dont wanna be Champ, what you doing in this game" which is wot ALL the wrestlers say about wrestling so I guess the same should be said about wrestling games

Anyways Ive wandered off point, so my point was MOD your way to success, :) and any wrestling game with a create-a-move feature is a winner to me
