1) PWX Controls ****************** It's a given that PWX Uprising will allow for keyboard and gamepad controls. But the engine upgrade yielded an unexpected but potentially very interesting third control possibility using the mouse. It could be very innovative and fun or it could be a disaster. Either way, having three possible controller "types" will only serve to broaden Uprising's appeal.
Speaking of controls, some of you have been asking for more details concerning the basic controls. It's pretty simple really. If you've played AKI or Fire Pro games you'll be able to have a good match without picking up a manual. One button for strikes, one to initiate grapples, and then either the strike or grapple button can be used when in a grapple state to execute a move. Three levels of grapple (weak, medium, strong) are available from a front grapple, two levels from a back grapple (weak, strong), and just one level from the side grapple. Truth be told, we only have one move animated for the side grapple at the moment. Eeep. But we have huge plans for the side grapple later one. HUGE I SAY. Tap the grapple button to initiate a weak grapple, hold it to initiate a medium/strong grapple. To execute a strong grapple move you need to press the proper button after grappling. Special/Finishing moves can be attempted at any time from a medium/strong grapple state. Tap or hold the strike button for weak or strong strikes. It's kind of an AKI/Fire Pro hybrid in that way. Depending on how people like/hate it we may develop a timing based system to access the strong tier of grapple moves similar to the Giant Gram or King of Colosseum games. I originally designed it that way but we didn't have the time or money to put it into the first game. Might have been a blessing. For all the praise King of Colosseum gets from some gamers (for many aspects rightly so) I've rarely seen it described as fun.
2) New PWX Screenshot ******************** We post new Uprising screenshots quite regularly but the one I have for you this week is one of my new faves. And it's an in-game shot baby:
Which reminds me, don't forget to check out of Facebook page for the latest screenshots and movies. They all get posted there before anywhere else. Thanks! http://www.facebook.com/ProWrestlingX
3) Steam powered ********************* Anyone here use Steam? The reason I ask is we had an agent this week if we would consider distributing our games via Steam if it were the only option. Online distributors are having a little turf war these days in case you haven't heard and a lot of them are now refusing to sell games that use Steam. I dunno. What do you guys think? Feel free to share you thoughts here:
4) And the winner is... *********************** Thank you to everyone who took the time to listen to the voice samples I posted last week and vote on their favorite. There was no clear consensus which points to the fact that one style may be more suited to some elements and another style for other things. So we'll likely use one style for the ref and another style for the general game announcing. That being said, there could also be an option to let you choose voice styles in game. Why stop there? Why not allow for custom audio of your own? Ain't PC gaming fun!
In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

Very pleased about this idea of aki/fire pro wrestling, couldn't be any better to my taste. I cant say I ever liked steam tough, from the day they got c-s under control I cant help but beeing pissed. I'm not sure if thats a clever argument but thats how I see this. I trust you to do what's right.
