With the earlier discussion about putting 5 wrestling games into the inigmus blackhole. It got me to think of all the games that should be saved for "all the times!" and placed in a time capsule. My votes are:

    1. WWF Wrestlefest (arcade)
    2. No Mercy
    3. Pro Wrestling Returns
    4. Power Move Pro Wrestling
    5. Saturday Night Slam Masters

As a side note does anyone know of any good wrestling games that might have gotten overlooked in the past (any system is fine but please no imports). I'm getting my wii modded and would like to put in some good wrestling games. Thanks!!

    1. WWF No Mercy
    2. WCW/nWo Revenge (for the roster)
    3. WWF Raw for SNES *Edit* (too much fun as a kid)

And that is about the extent of it. I personally do not like FPW and have never played any other Japanese games

    1. WWF Wrestlefest (arcade)
    2. WWF Superstars (arcade)
    3. Pro Wrestling (first wrestling game I got into... Go NES)
    4. Saturday Night Slam Masters
    5. WWF RAW (The customization was unbelieveable at the time)

I've always been a sucker for the games with the arcade feel... I just wish they'd make them look more realistic.

I think WWF RAW (SNES) was the first wrestling game to let you beat your opponent with a pail...good times!!! Loved that one too.

naterwop, if you like the arcade feel, did you like the Wrestlemania: the arcade game? I did but felt it was too over-the-top.

I think they should re-make Wrestlefest for the next-gen systems and with a current and old roster. I would pony up the dough for that one.

I really didn't like Wrestlemania - The Arcade Game because of the combos... It I wanted fire off button combos, I'd play Street Fighter. Ideally for me, the game would take a button masher type of approach (with the condition that each button hit "costs" you something, like stamina) so it would really be a pick and choose your spot. That, and getting an opponent into a position and then using a joystick to alter the position or setup so it feels like your doing more than just "press the red button, next, press the yellow button". I press up on a joystick and my wrestler lifts the opponent in a way related to the position I was in

    I get it.

I did like the control scheme for SVR '07, what with the 'joystick' mechanism.

For me a big point in wrestling games is the selling and simulation. The games put you in this moment and if you get thrown off a cell and bounce off the ground and get up two seconds later. It's unreal and throws you out of the moment.
