1) VRROOOOOM!! ***********************
Pro Wrestling X:Uprising began it's tune up this week as the engine upgrade work fired up. It should only take a week to complete and the end result will be an up to 200% increase in frame rate and greater playability on older PC's. And I don't want to get anyone's hopes up too high but the chance of a Mac release also went up from 0% to about 30% with this upgrade as well.
Looking at the latest build of Uprising is encouraging. The camera is now doing it's job perfectly if it is a little limited. We'd like to see a few more camera angles if possible and that frickin' air duct certainly needs a damn good thrashing. The camera tilts up nicely when the wrestlers get into a tight spot outside of the ring. You can see a recent screenshot from the new camera on our Facebook page today.
Other than that it's mainly just a lot of minor fixes and known issues. Things like hands that don't line up on the ropes perfectly, out of sync grapples, adding more animations, missing level collision, placeholder audio, etc. All serious issues if not dealt with but also pretty minor and easy to remedy in the grand scheme of things.
I have to digress for a moment. While I remain a loyal fan of PWX (since fall of 2006) anyway, no offense Dave and with all due respect intended but it seems you often promise a release by Christmas. I know you finally got the funding worked out and that is great but we as fans deserve something of solid, substance, at least a demo. Again, while I will always remain a loyal and dedicated fan of Pro Wrestling X.... I don`t know how much longer I can keep getting psyched up about a game over weekly newsletters and a few pics and a sporadic video. The Smackdown games put out by THQ/Yuke`s like the PWX game also carry hype to psych people up but at least with THQ there is a game every year. Again, no disrespect intended Dave. I respectfully await and hope to hear your response and or views from your standpoint/comments?
No no. No offense taken at all. I very often feel the exact same way you do. "God, how many more newsletters before the damn thing is released?!" That's why I'm careful not to promise anything. I HOPE we have a release by Christmas and that's based on what my crew estimates now having the funds to complete it. I'm not just guessing based on funding that hasn't arrived. Uprising is being worked on by the crew as we speak and they sincerely think we can get it ready in under three months. But of course I won't be terribly upset if three months turns into four or even five. Things can and do go wrong and we don't have a publisher throwing money at us to guarantee a Christmas release. One programmer gets hit by a bus and forget about it.
All I can really promise is that we are honestly and sincerely trying our best and every week I will give you an update with our progress no matter how great or small it will be. The last time I said we'd release by Christmas I wasn't expecting our next funding round to be canceled completely. Whoopsie!
lchr788, you continue to be a source of support and motivation for us. It's because of people like you that we continue to push forward instead of throwing in the towel when things don't go our way. I can't promise you No Mercy 2 when we're done but if you stick with us I can promise we will not stop doing the best we can as quickly as we can.
I hate when a game gets hyped and then is rushed out and is a big ridden sh..storm. I rather wait as long as we have and enjoy Uprising rather than be playing a substandard game.
Hopefully the lessons from Uprising allow the full PWX to be produced quicker. The engine is there. After that it will be a matter of tweaks, new animations, matches, weapons etc but hopefully the core of the game is there to build on thus reducing turnaround.
I would hope the full PWX is out within 1.5 to 2 years of Uprising being finished. Preferably quicker! I have this sick desire to have somebody build me the old WWF blue cage and insert little glass panels into each of the leg holes. Escaping the cage would be oh so brutally fun.

Well thank you Dave. Your response as like always has been... dignified, well-thought out, courteous and informative. I appreciate it! However my hype for this game since hearing about you guys getting the funding has skyrockted up to 10 with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. I will however have to drop my hype down to a level 8 if I don`t see a demo/full version of the game out by April 2010.
I'm surprised Dave only just found out about Botchamania. It rose to popularity quite a while ago, and has become for many a bigger staple of wrestling entertainment than the WWE itself.
