I know most people hated it, but my WSX dvd was one of the best dvd's i've ever purchased. I have seen the best of dragon gate but have heard bad about it. I'm very unsettled about buying wrestling dvd's for company's like R.O.H. because it's too much money to follow. What i am getting at here is this: Could anyone suggest some awesome best of''s or any sort of compilation wrestling dvd's? ALSO: Is the best of Dragon Gate any good? Do any of you know about the best of Chikara dvd's (etc. 2007, 08 09), is it worth getting? BTW: I do plan on getting PWG sells out. Thanks, John.
p.s: Please, do not list WWE DVD's. Finally, Sorry this was so long.
Highspots has some pretty good stuff available in their AJPW section of DVD's.
I really enjoyed the Miracle Violence Connection DVD, Vader, and Hansen as well and anything you can get with Misawa and Kobashi on it is pretty much guaranteed to be good.
I loved WSX! I thought it was going to be terrible but it was so over the top and unapologetic in it's presentation that it was really fun to watch. Not a promotion for everybody, but a lot of fun for me.
As for compilation dvd's I'm afraid I can't help you there. The last one I bought (non WWE) was an FMW vhs.
People have whole-heartedly recommended the RoH "Best Wrestler in the World" tournaments...
I've also bought a bunch of FMW DVDs, too. The Hayabusa "Flying Assassin" compilation is pretty class, though the Masato Tanaka one is slightly less awesome.
I'll throw it out there, if you're open minded try SHIMMER. Yes, it is a women's orginization, but the enitre roster (with one exception) is talent. And there are a couple of Divas and more than a few Knockouts.
*sigh* Okay, It was Ann Brookstone. She had a match against Shantelle Taylor (Taylor Wilde) that was abysmal. In Brookstone's defense she has had some nasty hardcore matches against the likes of Mickey Knuckles and Vanessa Kraven. And she takes a better bump than I do.
Very few female wrestler can pull off that style convincingly. Once the novelty of a hardcore female wrestler wears off they need to be able to perform. That being said, LuFisto is at the top of that group if you ask me.
