Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #366

    1) DLC or Unlawfully withholding content?
    2) Epic Interview
    3) Uprising Questions

    1) DLC or Unlawfully withholding content?
    ******************************************
So when you buy a game you own the disc, right? You would therefore think that you own everything on said disc, right? So why is it that in order to access all of the wrestlers on the new Legends of Wrestlemania game I have to buy Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 to unlock it all? It can't be unlocked by playing through career mode, an unlock code, or any other means apparently. You have to buy another game and have it's game save file on your system in order to get all of the content on the disc you already had to pay full price for.
You have to buy two games to get all of the content of one game?! Um...no. We're not talking about legitimate DLC here, we're talking about something you ALREADY HAVE on the disc YOU ALREADY OWN.

    I call bullshit.

    2) Epic Interview
    *************************
Oh man have I got a surprise in store for you. I scored an interview that will put a smile on many wrestling gamers' faces. It's with a wrestling game developer that has a hardcore group of fans but that's about all I can say for the next few days. I've already conducted a large portion of the interview and so far the answers and info I've managed to get are pure gold. Epic. You won't find it anywhere else. It's a total WGU exclusive.

    Stay tuned...

    3) Uprising Questions
    *********************
    Continuing from last week:

Q: When will Uprising be released?
A: Soon I hope. My best guess based on everything going well for us so far is that it's a matter of months, not six more years. Are you listening, God? It's me, little Dave. I've been a good boy...

Q: How many weapons are in Uprising?
A: A steel chair, two of them placed on the floor outside the ring. But you can mod it to create whatever other two-handed weapons your sick little heart desires.

Q: Do the weapons disappear after you drop them or use them?
A: Weapons stay put exactly where you dropped them. No sliding around or disappearing. They also don't break apart if you use them too much. Although we did plan for stages of damage to the weapons themselves that feature didn't make it into Uprising. Swing that chair all day long!

Q: Do all of the wrestlers have the same moves?
A: No sir (or ma'am, I apologize for making assumptions). Some moves are shared between some characters but everyone has moves unique to them, taunts, etc.

In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

    Thank you for your support,
    Dave Wishnowski
  1.
Regarding your point #1: That is why God himself, Mick Foley, invented the GameShark. :p
  2.
Terrible: Honestly i've never heard of such a thing where you have to buy another game to unlock the contents of one. Whoever decided to pull this one definitely is money hungry. Even if you don't like Smackdown Vs Raw 2009 you have to pay $60+ bucks just for a little content that would normally be included in the original game disc itself.

But like the man above me said "GAMESHARK." Our saving grace.

I personally would not purchase Legends of Wrestlemania because according to what i read gameplay is "average"at best. Too much acady for my taste. And the wrestlers are outta per portions.

The only good thing about this is having another movelist to add to my collection to aid me in making caws in PWX & that i can find over at gamefaqs.com for free instead for paying $13 for their strategy guide for a game i would never touch with a 10 foot pole. But that's just me.

On another note, a good note, Finally you answered some Uprising questions i would've asked you myself. Finally you bring out the good stuff. I hope the wait for Uprising is short.
  3.
You could just rent SDvsR09 to make a game save file, but yeah, it's still bullshit. I can't wait to hear the interview.

Nobody has heard of Pokemon? Same thing. Needed Red and Blue for all 150.

Didn't some old WWE games require the use of a Gameboy version of the game as well?

Unless I am mistaken about something, i.e. you could still get all these characters somehow, it appears this isn't that new an idea.

Don't get me wrong, LoW appears very good in the videos. Nice quick grappling, scientific chain wrestling in most matches and some of the best commentary I've heard in years. Aside the way it reportedly plays though, the fact they filled the disc with "unavailable" SvR wrestlers is something I'm not too happy with.
Not only does the game suffer from the problems others have mentioned, but I also have the suspicion the developers have perhaps made compromise with the roster available to include wrestlers which, although certainly popular, are not appropriate for a game designed to recreate past matches.
(It wouldn't hurt to include other wrestler's names in Finkel's list of announcing names either. Showdown did that trick.)
