Welcome to Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #356

How sad is it that in last week I still haven't founf time to bust open my swank new
copy of WCW Thunder? For those of you who may have missed out on this "gem" I refer you
to a review by Billwood that Monitor kindly reminded me about:

    http://home.roadrunner.com/~billwood661/wcw_thunder.html

Does it get any better? Any worse? I've never been so eager to hand over a $1.99 for
anything. They've got a great pawn shop where I am now. They even have sections devoted to
NES and Dreamcast games and hardware. I remember someone selling a Dreamcast in Vancouver
for $150 and here they are stacked 20 deep at $40 a pop. Giant Gram 2000 will never
die! Not that I've even hooked up a Dreamcast in the last few months but it would suck
to not be able to if I wanted to, y'know?

I haven't even played around with Uprising lately except for some new pic additions to
the Hamerlock wall. The latest wheelin' and dealin' on the money side has kept me busy.
That and Attack of the Show reruns. I never had this channel before. Where has this show
been all my life? Anyway, the latest deal between and investment bank and a group of
private Angel investors would look like this:

    1) a $5Ok loan to launch and support additional PWX content just so we can get it
to market properly and prove (or not) that we have a viable concept here. In other words,
prove we can make our money back.

    2) if successful, the next round is for $500k to expand a new studio in Alberta and go
hard on the next iteration of PWX.

Sounds like a lot of money and it is...but it's not.

You never know what kind of challenges you will meet or mistakes you will make. If I had to
do it over again knowing what we know now we could produce Uprising in one 5th the time
with one 5th of what we spent up until know. Probably less. Meh, you live and you learn.
Crybaby's get nothing but a boob in their mouth. Wait a minute. WAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!

You know what's weird though? Smackdown vs. Raw 2009 is the first Smackdown in history
that I haven't even felt the urge to rent or borrow. Still haven't played it. Not
interested. Same with the rumored Fire Pro 3D coming to Live Arcade. Even if it's
a sweet looking new 3D experience that plays like Fire Pro Returns I'll only be
buying it out of some sort of twisted self imposed obligation. If it plays the same then
I already played it on PS2, new graphics or not. I want something new and not just
fresh paint on an old experience. I'd be more interested in Backyard Wrestling 3 for Wii
at this point. Seriously. And that's not to slag the puro-geek in me, just saying.
Bored, bored, bored. I'm having more fun battling my seven year old daughter on Super
Mario Bros. for DS that I have in a wrestling game lately. Fun is fun. It's not that
games are necessarily awful these days, just dated and stale. If Smackdown vs. Raw 2009
had been the successor to No Mercy I probably would have liked it a lot. Not loved it,
but at least would have wanted to play it.

Is that too much to ask for?

In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of
    Wrestling Gamers United.
