1) Mommy, it hurts ********************************
I know I'm not feeling 100% when I forget until almost 8pm that I haven't sent out the newsletter yet. I'm a tad under the weather today so please excuse me if I just manage to scratch out a quick update before crawling back into bed.
Yeah I hate the stock market.
All that volatility of the U.S. mortgage crisis, that can't hurt a Canadian video game company, can it? Well let's play connect the dots:
1-U.S. stock market takes a dive and U.S. investors panic, liquidating their investments and selling like crazy. 2-Canadian investors, while slightly sheltered by the border, get scared and follow suit. 3-Investors want to recoup their losses fast, and investing in our little company is no longer a quick and attractive option. 4-Current investors in our company retain the right to recall shareholder loans at any time. Guess what some of them opt to do in the face of this crisis?
And just to make a nice Perfect Storm moment, the current Canadian government goes on a "culture cuts" spree, slashing funding to almost ten new media related funds. Guess where we get the rest of our funding along with private investors?
Fu-diddly-uck
Oh well, no guts no glory. There is no quit. Etc. etc. etc. Our television production friends say they are getting a lot of positive response to our documentary pitch so thats good. And the former CEO of a big fight company has been talking to me over the last few days about doing something with us, so thats good also. We have a game that works, also good. We have supporters who care about us, even better. My daughter still thinks I'm the best daddy in the world and frankly, thats the best thing of all.
Bed.
In the meantime and in-between time, that's it. Another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.
