Because there are still 8-year-olds who miraculously don't know what, say, "DX" stands for.
PWX - Pro Wrestling X (includes "Pro Wrestling X: Uprising") WGU - Wrestling Gamers United (this group of fans who want PWX made, who are helping to make it even in the smallest ways)
CAW - Create-A-Wrestler (also "Edit-A-Wrestler"), the mode in which you create a custom wrestler. CAB - Create-A-Belt, see above. CAA - Create-An-Arena, see above.
TNA - Total Nonstop Action - a wrestling company run by Jeff Jarrett and his father Jerry. WWE - World Wrestling Entertainment - formerly WWF (World Wrestling Federation) and WWWF before that (World Wide Wrestling Federation) and CWP before THAT (Capitol Wrestling Promotions), the "Worldwide Leader in Sports-Entertainment". WCW - World Championship Wrestling - for over 10 years, the biggest competitor to the WWF until Vince McMahon bought it out in 2001. ECW - Extreme Championship Wrestling (formerly Eastern Championship Wrestling), now the "third brand" for the WWE, this upstart company broke from the NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) in 1994 and was considered (by its boss Paul Heyman, at least) to be the Nirvana (the grunge band) to pro wrestling's current (at the time) hair metal. RVD - Rob Van Dam (real name Rob Szatkowski), the most well-known wrestler reference to ECW. And if you know wrestling and don't know by now who Rob Van Dam is, just Google/Wiki him. RoH - Ring of Honor, an up-and-coming independent wrestling company that occasionally shares talent with TNA (and various Japanese companies) and gets workers snapped up by WWE development. UFC - Ultimate Fighting Championship - a hybrid-fighting company that stages their unscripted fights inside an Octagon(TM); its owner, Dana White, has trademarked the name and concept of Octagon and he is quite proud of it.
WMX8 - WrestleMania X-8 (18), as a game, it's the Nintendo GameCube game that was so bad, the disgust for it resulted in the inception of PWX. The following game, WrestleMania XIX (19) was much better, but it did not deter the WGU in any way. WM2k - WrestleMania 2000, widely regarded as one of the best wrestling games of the 20th Century. WM21 - WrestleMania 21, almost halfway to being a good wrestling game for the X-Box; it's bad enough that even the RAW series was better. VPW - Virtual Pro-Wrestling - a Japanese import for the N64, it was the souped up version of "WCW/nWo World Tour"; for the PlayStation, it was the game "WCW vs. The World" VPW2 - Virtual Pro-Wrestling 2: King's Road Succession - another Japanese import for the N64, it was the souped up WM2k and widely regarded among the TOP 5 WRESTLING GAMES OF ALL TIME. Its position on said list varies from month to month. KYR - Know Your Role, the 2nd SmackDOWN! game; vastly improved over the first one, it's generally considered the best wrestling game in the history of the PlayStation One. JBI - Just Bring It!, the 3rd SmackDOWN! game and the first for the PS2, it was a space-on-the-memory-card-eating disaster, but it laid the groundwork for its successor... SYM - Shut Your Mouth, the 4th SmackDOWN! game; vastly improved over JBI, and considered the 2nd-funnest SmackDOWN! game on the PS2, it had a great roster, and one of the least screwed-up Create-A-Wrestler modes in the series's history. HCtP - Here Comes the Pain, the 5th SmackDOWN! game; largely considered to be the best SmackDOWN! game on the PS2. Full of improvements over SYM, even as a few CAW options were scaled back. SvR - SmackDOWN! vs. RAW, largely considered to be mini-series that made even the WWE lose faith in THQ, Jakks Pacific, and Yuke's. (It's true, it's one of the reasons WWE wanted out of their contract) DoR - Day of Reckoning, the series of WWE games for the Nintendo Wii, considered to be pretty darn good.
WBX - WishBoneX, the official name of the company making PWX, owned by Dave Wishnowski. SMAC - Scotty Mac, the real wrestler in PWX: Uprising. "SMAC" is what it says on the back of his Steven Richards-like pants.
If any other members knowledgeable about wrestling companies, games, and general wrestling concepts have any others to add, feel free.
AKI- Makers of VPW(1-2), WM2000 and No Mercy. ASPW (1-3)- All Star Pro Wrestling by Square Enix. Possibly the most realistically-animated series of games thus far, with a great deal of moves. It isn't to everyone's tastes however. GG2K- Giant Gram 2000 by Sega. A hefty CAW moveset somehow finding itself in a very fast paced arcade game. HBW- Homebrew Wrestling by action937. An ongoing independant project. FPR- Fire Pro Wrestling Returns by Spike. A 2D game well loved within the import community. The grapple system still makes it look like an arcade game however. KOC (Red/Green/2)- King of Colloseum by Spike. Enjoyed by many for its movesets, 'powerball' system and CAW functions. The gameplay looks somewhat robotic though. LOW (1-2, Showdown)- Legends of Wrestling by Acclaim. A legend-packed roster not put to the best of use. TR (1-4)- Touken Retsuden by Yuke's. What would become the Smackdown franchise. WK (1-2)- Wrestle Kingdom by Yuke's. The footage I've seen of these two games hasn't been anything stellar, but I'm sure many would disagree.
There are some more obscure games out there for various systems, but they've yet to earn their acronyms.
