This past week WWE has attempted to control the media. There is some heat towards UK's magazine the Fighting Spirit for their preview of SmackDown vs. RAW 2009 video game.
In the latest issue, the magazine printed a memo sent out by WWE to the video game press regarding coverage of their upcoming video game with how it's portrayed in previews. WWE told the press that there are to be no screenshots released showing superstars bleeding or using weapons. Triple H's character is also not to be seen "in a defenseless or vulnerable position."
WWE is reportedly upset that the memo was published. In addition to publishing the memo, Fighting Spirit posted a screenshot of Kane hovering over a vulnerable Triple H.
The WWE and Vince McMahon are something alot of people don`t understand nor do I really think they ever will. They apparently are venturing into a new era it seems with them not wanting blood or weapons shown in the screenshots of the game. Thank goodness weapons and blood will appear in Smackdown v.s. Raw 2009. As far as not wanting HHH shown in a vulnerable position that could be because he closely represents the WWE (being married to Stephanie McMahon) much like the McMahon`s.
I love that Vince is worried about that - his company sells a DVD with HHH v Ultimate Warrior where he no sells the pedigree and squashes him in seconds....but he is worried about a videogame representation of him being beaten up. What a willy head.

*gets ideas of having Triple H completely destroyed by Santino Marella.*

The magazine has a responsibility to be objective and the WWE/THQ has no right to tell them how to report on the game. I wish all game magazines and websites had balls like that.
