Last week's question about getting screwed out of money was fun and there were some great responses. This week let's come clean either to brag or ease a guilty conscience:

What was the most cash or valuables you ever stole (or 'borrowed' and haven't returned) and got away with?

I was pretty bush league when I was younger. A few magazines and cassettes. I gave up my life of crime when cd's came out. My brother, however, managed to lift a snowboard off the shelf and walk right out the door with it. But then he got busted for stealing a bottle of New York Seltzer at a Safeway and the police experience scared him straight.

I can only get my head around that by assuming that New York Seltzer must be more valuable than a snowboard.
I suppose both are useful for different situations: the snowboard would help you escape from yetis, and the seltzer would be good for refreshment after such an ordeal.

    Something I stole...
Well, I still keep a No One Lives Forever game (boxed original), but the dude I borrowed it from is pretty rich for our standards and didn't miss it. I thought of returning it, but he flew somewhere and now I can't find him...
But not hardcore theft, I'm too scared to try...

I ordered Wrestlemania 2000 from Gamestop.com and they sent 2 copies, so I took one to Wal-Mart for a "refund"

    1. A few magazines from the local library (a couple Esquires and a couple SI Swimsuit Editions), mostly. That, and I frequently rip pages that arouse my interest from various magazines (and occasionally comics) I borrow from the library...though I'm oddly enough not the only person to do so. Weird, huh?

    2. I also borrowed-without-asking my brother's friend's copy of GoldenEye 64 a long-ass time ago. I gave it back sooner than I was planning, but my brother gave me so much crap over it. Never mind the fact that we later got a copy of our own...

    3. I also got kicked out of a fetish-photography party hosted at Purple Passion (a leather-and-latex clothing store downtown in New York) for pocketing all the Ferrero Rochers from the food table set up in the display dungeon (but in my defense, I was starving that week, and I loves me my hazelnut-and-crisps-covered-in-chocolate).

I'm fairly honest (or maybe the feeling of guilt would drive me insane!) so the only things I've really got are a friends copy of 24 Series 2 (that I do plan to give back when I remember) and another friends copy of Wrestlemania the Album, featuring such greats as Mr Perfect - I'm Perfect and Speaking From The Heart by Macho Man Randy Savage, which I'm not planning on giving back. It always amuses me to remind myself its the only Simon Cowell produced album in my fairly massive CD collection.

At college I spent a fair amount of time scamming Amazon's refer a friend thing though, by setting up a new e-mail address every time I bought a CD I got half price CD's for about two years. I stopped when a friend of mine got a cease and desist from Amazon, then shortly afterwards I ordered the first Rage album (for £2!) and they sent me Evil Empire instead. I sent it back but never got a refund, but decided to write it off as a small loss and stopped doing it. Shortly after Amazon stopped the scheme. I did later buy both albums in a double set cardboard sleeve for £4 in Tesco, who's laughing now Amazon?!?

    Maybe he's using a friend's internet connection without...returning it...or something...

Spunk means "torrents", the things that emulators play (no mentioning of the actual word allowed here, but it rhymes with "bombs" and starts with "r"), and general downloading of ripped ISOs and soundtracks on various sites.

Of course, if he means "using internet" in the sense that he's pirating somebody ELSE'S connection via his own wireless card (if he has one), then that counts too.

You mean a word that rhymes with combs or tombs, right?
it's 3-4 lettered, depending you put in in the plural, right?
