1) Burned **********
I'm in a bad mood today. A little angry, a little bitter. I was talking to someone yesterday about one of my ex-employees and I learned some things that made me feel like a class A chump. Turns out the guy had lied to me on many occasions and I, because I want to believe people are all essentially good hearted, didn't see any of it. I was flat out taken advantage of. It feels crappy to even write that. Who likes to learn that someone got the better of them? The guy took my money to do a job and then did the bare minimum to avoid suspicion. Acted like he was my buddy, laughing and joking, but in the end just using me for an easy paycheck. I learned that he didn't heroically leave his previous job to come and work on PWX. He was fired from his previous job. That will teach me to not check references. I guess I had it coming. He's been fired from many subsequent jobs, none of which ever called me for a reference. I guess I'm not the only one who takes people for their word.
Still, the little bastard saw me struggling financially to keep the game in development. He knew my wife was working overtime at her day job to help make payroll at times. He'd listen to me talk about how I couldn't afford some things for my family because we were putting it all into the business and still he took my money every payday to do essentially nothing. All those times I thought he was working overtime he was just surfing and playing games. But he'd bill me for the time and I'd pay it. And I still have to pay back all of the money I borrowed to pay him for that "overtime".
I admit, I'm guilty of screwing the pooch in the past. But I guess I felt it wasn't as bad to be lazy when working a crap job for a huge corporation that didn't care about me. But wrong is wrong and I see that now. I just don't see how anyone can take advantage of a small family run business like this guy did. I worked really hard to get this company funded. Anyone who was with me at the time knows what I went through, and the thing is, HE KNEW what I went through and didn't care. I'm sure he just laughed at how gullible I was every payday when he'd walk out of here without having to do anything. It's been a while since I fired this person but as soon as I learned more about him yesterday it just brought back all of my hard feelings and more.
In talking with this mutual acquaintance about him we at least both agreed that it was a learning experience and now I can spot that type of person a mile a way. Better that lesson cost me a few thousand dollars than a few million.
Still, buddy, if you're reading this, it's a small town and karma is a bitch.
2) Selling ***********
Don't like the selling animations you've seen in Uprising so far? Neither do we really. And it looks like we're going to try and sneak a few more selling animations into the game before it ships. At least they're the easiest thing to add aside from taunts...
3) Link of the Week ********************
A female posted this article and pics so that means we aren't perverts for enjoying it:
Let's see who can top everyone else with this question: What's the most money you've ever been screwed out of and how did it happen? Did you ever get revenge?
