1) Stick a fork in it
********************************

How can we possibly thank everyone? Seriously, this project goes so far back that the acknowledgments will run on for miles. I just can't see a good reason to leave anyone out. From as far back as Lil Cube and Dark Offspring to MarlaSinger and Amazing Gwenster of today there have been literally thousands of people deserving of thanks. And how about crew members? From Pickles in the prototype days all the way to the final Uprising we have seen a lot of crew come and go with very few original crew remaining from the early days. Only Darrell and Eric remain who have seen it all from day one and what a story they could tell. I was recently asked by someone to give a list of words that could describe interesting events throughout the history of this project. Strange list indeed:

Bullets, sex changes, restraining orders, liars, thieves, quitters, miracles, and heroes.

Was it worth it? Some might argue that it wasn't. But for me, I can't imagine giving up any of the hard memories. You really do learn just how far you can go before you truly reach your breaking point. Truth is, the worst case scenario usually isn't all that bad once you are actually living it. Key word being 'living'.

But where to go from here? It's already been cause for debate. Various crew member are already pushing for more additions before we release. Achievements, mod tools, story mode, and tables matches are all things trying to weasel their way into Uprising before release. Perhaps 'weasel' is a strong word as a strong case can be made for the inclusion of one or more of the aforementioned features. As tempting as it is to just keep adding and adding until we feel it's done it just isn't a realistic course of action. Why?
Because there will always be more that we want to add. It's a cycle that would never stop. Sooner or later you just have to let your baby out into the big bad world and that's what we're preparing to do shortly. All we can hope is that with each upgrade and iteration the game just keeps getting bigger and more refined.

We can do that. The remaining crew wants to do that. So away we go...

2) Link of the Week
********************

Eric sent me a link to the achievements in the upcoming TNA game. Most are things that will happen anyway as you play through story mode but there are a few quirky ones in there as well:

http://www.consolemonster.com/achievement.php?id=0000000335&platform=360

3) Question of the Week
************************

Remember the striking combo system from the old AKI WCW games? One of the crew is pushing really hard for a similar system in PWX. But does anyone want to see striking combos make a return to wrestling games?

Please discuss with us here:

In the meantime and in-between time, that's it. Another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

Hey Dave,

Great news. By the way I noticed you had mentioned about adding stuff as you go along with the game. Table matches are obviously a great idea however I hope right after the full release of Pro Wrestling X you can add all of the tag team stuff. I think tag matches should be the next thing you add because they are like single matches... the core of the game. If you do decide to add tag matches here is what I would like to see you start out with:

About 25 Double team moves: such as Double suplex, Double clothesline, Double arm drag, Double drop kick, Double super kick,... etc.

About 25 Tag finishers: such as: Hart Attack, Snapshot, Backbreaker hold into leg drop, Backbreaker hold into elbow drop, Power-Plex (superplex into big splash), 3D Deathdrop, Doomsday Device, Super Kick into Pedigree, G9, Double Chokeslam, Double DDT, Double Cutter, Sweet and Sour, Assisted Powerbomb...etc.

Blind tags (not necessary but might be cool)

Hot tags (not necessary but might be cool)

Rope Pulldown (not necessary but might be cool)

P.S. I also had an idea about a royal rumble (battle royale) mode: Ring outs could not only occur from throwing out from the ropes but they could also occur from special moves like "super kick", "fu", "powerbomb", "choke slam", "gorrila press", "body slam". And if your about to get tossed out you could have maybe "3 special reversal icons" by hitting a special button to get back into the ring but after you use all 3 of them you get no more. Also maybe there could be 6-12 men in the ring at once if possible? Thoughts?
1.
Hey, I got a mention! WHOOOOOOOOOO!

I'd say get it out there as quick as possible and hint at an update with maybe a table match or whatever coming later down the line. I think right now you just wanna get some people talking about it and that's the demo's job. If you start adding stuff now then the thing's just never going to get released until it absolutely has to be.

I think achievements in the demo should only be used to point out things you want people to do that they might not know they can, like the balcony dive and etcetera, if that's still in.

Spore comes to mind - they released the creature creator and have been swamped with created creatures just sitting ready for the real game
2.
Hey! A mention. Sweet as ever!

Well, if I haven't been around lately, I gotta say that it's because I got Firepro for the PS2 and my wrstling game related venom kinda subsided for a while (plus there hasn't been that much to talk about :p). Christ... How long have I been following this thing? Since shortly after WMX8 came out? A first Gen gamecube game... Jeez...

The terribility inherent in that game was the reason for this whole mess... and I congratulate you massively on this accomplishment.

Just out of curiosity, what will you be doing with the people who preordered the full-version PWX back in the day? I'm pretty sure I did :p

Just who exactly is the "sex change" part referring to?

And @ DO, I noticed recently that you're a member of Chrono Crisis! w00t!

@ Dave...still waiting on those belt requests!

What about the Sims the expantion packs that they release are very succesful

That annoys me about the sims because in one of the special edition sims 2 games they have a dvd where they interview the dev team and they say that all of the expansion packs they released for The Sims 1 were originally on the game but they had a fire that destroyed everything and only left the basic sims game intact so that's why they released the expansions at a later date and charged us money.

Just seemed a bit suspect that the fire took out everything they could charge us money for and left the game perfectly ok!

-

I thought of Spore because the creature creator people have gone mad about enables you to make content towards the final game so on day one the game will be over flowing with user created content and they've had a few weeks/months of word of mouth with videos and images of the creatures uploaded the youtube/other sites. Uprising has the same potential with the modding community allowing new users who come in on day one of the full release to have a library of content ready to add themselves.

If the team are adding some new features now then does that mean the basics are complete?

Table matches
Depending how they're implemented - the DOR style where any move near the table breaks it kinda looks a little unrealistic as you clip the corner edge of the table and it breaks in half. But then it does allow the player more freedom than the THQ games where you can only do a small selection of predetermined animations. In my eyes i prefer the DOR tables (though not as gigantic!) as it just gives you more options - put the table in the corner and then whip your opponent into the turnbuckle by it and you can then do any slamming move you want from the top to down through the table just like on tv.

The arse comes when deciding what to do with the tables after they're broken - people complain about the WWE tables vanishing into thin air once they're broken but what else can you do with them?

I guess a THQ style pre determined table match style could solve that by adding the animation at the end of the move of you kicking the table out of the ring - but you're limited then with the table braking moves and you're going to find problems where you're stuck in the long animation of moving the table after the move allowing who knows what to happen around you. AND... you've got the problems of making sure the animation kicks the table out towards the nearest ropes and you don't get parts where it's kicked and it glides across the ring like it's on ice and falls. Thinking about it... that would look really sht.

One quick question - by any chance can we do moves onto weapons like the chair and inflict a little extra damage? I can't remember if that's ever been answered - we need a Faq posting with stuff like that i think for reference.

Dave, please if you add nothing else to Uprising, add mod tools.

Look at the Elder Scroll Games, Morrowind and Oblivion. Morrowind came out in the early 2000s, with Oblivion in 2006, and both games STILL have people making stuff for it and playing it. The reasoning for this is simple: Bethsda released an EXCELLENT modding tool that allowed players to create story lines (with voices), new races, new weapons, new skills, new continents, new enemies, and new scripts. Oblivion was a bit more watered down that Morrowind's version, but look up "Morroblivion." This total conversion used the in game editor to remake ALL of Morrowind in the Oblivion engine. Achievements are great, but once gamers get a hold of these tools, the game will go way beyond your expectations.

@EricJ1186
I forwarded your post to our programming team. They were happy to hear you back them up on the mod tools idea. I still haven't played Oblivion despite the fact that Monitor has been singing its praises for months now. I should pick it up.

@lchr788
We are so far away from working on Battle Royal and Tag Team stuff it ain't even funny. You have great ideas, but we've got a mountain of basic gameplay to polish before we can move forward with that. Technically getting tons of wrestlers into the ring won't b e a problem. Even with all shaders maxed out, animated Skytrains, fans, etc, we don't see any lag.

@DO
I took all the pre order money and had a meth party with Sanders Keel and Fred Cook. Remember them? Seriously though, all pre orders are on file and we will honor them the minute we ship the full PWX we promised back in the day, story mode, caw, etc. We're getting there, your patience will be rewarded when you see the shovel in the game....
And hey it's good to see you again! Still in Montreal?

@fullMETAL
Don't you worry, how could we forget your belt offer? As for the sex change, I probably shouldn't have even mentioned it until the person involved gives me her ok. I don't mean any disrespect. She was a huge help to the project.

@KRadiation
The basics are complete. But pride and the need for polish are demanding we do more than just the basics. At leat a little...

Yes. Yes you should. And while you are at it you can pick up my latest game find....Mass Effect.

But more importantly YES WE NEED GOOD MOD TOOLS!!!!
And @ DO, I noticed recently that you're a member of Chrono Crisis! w00t!
Member is such a strong term... Loosely following it under the slightest chance it may ever be completed is most likely the more accurate assessment. I ain't holdin' my breath. I wish they'd just make a sequel to Cross and be done with it. Squeenix douchebags...

@Dave: Yuppers, still in the (Canadian) city that never sleeps. Where the Hell are cube, spunk, and drunkpaco (powerballllz), anyway? Last I checked, they were the only super mega veterans still hanging around.

Haha... by the time those preorders are filled, The game will have cost me 12 cents or so (in 2060 equivalent American Pesos), adjusted for inflation :p

Good to see you too!

PS: I hope one will be able to uppercut with the shovel for obvious reasons.

I've taken an uppercut (though not with a shovel) in the nose. It hurts. And this was when I was 7 or 8 or so. That's about 15 years ago. Still remember it: my brother did it after we were playing Street Fighter II on the SNES and we wanted to ShoRyuKen each other.

(a beat, then...)

He got to go first.

Him and also me (in fact, I also recall being one of your most sycophantic supporters, lol). The arguments I'VE gotten into back in the day ("which was a Wednesday..." - Dane Cook) mostly involved Spunk and his annoyance at my constant belt-marking.
