I'm probably on the oldest still-unretired one right now.
My 4 GB HD lappy that I got for free on Christmas 2003 came with Windows 3.1 if I remember correctly. Installing Windows 2000 NT on it (best decision I've made to date) was the only possible way to save it from TOTAL obscurity. It can't even emulate GBA at full speed (though it plays CPS and Neo-Geo perfectly).

Exactly, I think Quake is probably the best when it comes to running on bad PCs. I heard someone was trying to make it for a java game or something, anyway to make it run on a website. I think it should be a prime example when it comes to making games accessible for many computers. It would be awesome to run it on a cheap laptop and bring it to friends so I can show it to them.
Hey, is there any hope for a Linux version? Because I'm probably getting a $300 Laptop soon and I want to put Ubuntu or Xubuntu in it.
Sorry man, no Linux version planned just yet. We still have to get over the drama and hurdles of releasing a frickin' Windows version. I'd love to port it to Mac, too, if given the chance. I'd say it's very comparable to running Quake as there are also fallbacks in place to turn off some of the more graphically advanced features.
My offer to test it on my PoS laptop still stands. As in the following: even if it WORKS (not very likely considering my GI-NORMOUS lack of RAM), it's PROBABLY going to run slower than Kevin Nash on a perpetually-broken hoof.
Edit: Even WITH all the extra goodies turned off...like wrestler textures. (That's a reference to the Poser 3d rendering program, where you can turn off lighting, shadows, bump-mapping, AND textures to increase the rendering speed...the very action of which makes rendering all but pointless.)
