Like everyone else fed up with the WWE / THQ style of games - and who are TNA fans - I was excited to learn that Midway and TNA struck a deal to make a console game. Finally a game that doesn't suck! But, Midway dropped the ball....
"Due to memory limitations, the Wii and Playstation 2 versions will not have the create-a-wrestler mode" - Wikipedia
I have a PS3 and Wii, so I am covered, but honestly, I'm not going to even rent this one.
I downloaded the newest trailer that was added today to PSN, and uh... at times it looked like WWF Attitude. The collision looked odd, and the video was edited horribly. One seen had two guys running and saying something to the affect of "Big hits" and he did like a flipping kick that looked ridiculously weak. Also, it was REALLY odd to see a point a system in a wrestling game.
After 17 months of use, my 360 is giving me nothing but 'Unplayable Disc' messages every time I turn it on. I reported it as a RRoD to Microsoft and I'm currently waiting for the shipping box to arrive...then I'll have to wait 2-3 weeks for it to come back. 8(
I do have a Wii, but I can only use it for Gamecube games ATM. The room I have it hooked up in is too small to have the room for playing normally, so t's not my MAIN console (That and the fact that I only have 2 Wii Games. Wii Sports and Wii Play....I'm tempted to get Marvel Ultimate Alliance though)
A lot of people have the PS2! Like the people above and me. Playstation 2 might be a dying console, but it's not dead yet... So yeah - it's kinda stupid...
My 360 gets the most of my attention these days thanks in large part to Screaming for Vengeance and Rock Band ("Are you ready for some Judas Pried Heavy METALLLL!!!") but my PS2 and even Dreamcast remain hooked up for regular action. Thing that irks me is using the disc space excuse for taking CAW off the PS2 version of Impact. Because lord knows there was never a wrestling game with CAW on PS2 before...
Now the question is, what is that memory being used for?
Oh and damn, I don't have any of the new consoles (Only a Cube and PSP) and I plan to get a PS2 real soon. This disappoints me.
And PS2 is far from being a dead console. Sony said at E3 that there would be like 150+ new games coming. PS2 is the budget console for them. There are a lot of great games for PS2 that I plan to get (and I've wanted for years but never had money to get). Just no one cares because they want their good graphics and shallow gameplay.
Oh, there is nothing wrong with PS2, I just see it as, if you consider yourself a gamer, this current gen is a few years deep now, there are price cuts and so on... Basically, they aren't expensive. I can understand being in college or just not being into gaming and not bothering getting one... But at that point it is difficult to get upset about either not getting the best new games or not getting games with all of the features like the other consoles.
Them being able to not do it on the Wii is either Wii has some hardcore hardware limitations (I know next to nothing about the system, so I won't pretend to know) or the developers having next to no knowledge of how to work on the console. I mean, maybe it is the storage capacity on the discs? Even then, I'm sure Wii has its own compression stuff they could use to fit things.
The PS2 is my main console. You know why? Because it's my only console.
But i might get an Xbox 360 IF & that's a BIG IF if PWX gets ported over to the 360. I also might get a handheld system if PWX gets ported over to whatever handheld. I don't usually buy consoles but when i do buy a console it's because i am crazy about a certain wrestling game like when i bought my n64 to play No Mercy. Just for No Mercy. I never had so much fun in a videogame in my entire life. Good Times. 12 hours non stop. Never got tired.
It did and it was fun to review at the end of the match. "I may have lost but...I scored more points!" I also miss the striking combo system from Revenge.
I only have a PS2 and, GUYS, I bought it like 2 months ago only for Fire Pro Returns. No Joke. I've been able to live without any console but my brothers N64 (WWF No Mercy FTW~!), and so will it be in the future. And I agree with Spudz, Midway will [muck] this game up big time.
