Ok guys, I'm sorry if the questions have been asked already, but I've been gone for a minute or two. I remember Dave saying somewhere that if everything else worked and they had the extra time that they would have online play. And if you are, here is what I would like to suggest. First, online exhibition, where players can take pwx characters or their caws and compete with one another. It would also be a good spot to let players wage war over custom belts. Then there is my idea for a league. But I wouldn't just have one league, I'd have about a dozen, in the same way that City of Heroes has more than one server. There would be a classic league, Indy league, one for RAW and one for Smackdown and of course one for those that wish to use the original wrestlers in the game. I know this is possible, Dave and the crew just need the time to get it working. So basically it works like this, say I make Chris Jericho and add him to the ECW server, by right of being there first I would be the only one aloud to be Lionheart, I hate people who get creative just to spam the same wrestler over and over. It has to be this way or everyone would just keep making RVD and Sabu and never play anyone else. Personally, I would spend all of my time in exhibition until it's time for my league match. Also, while I'm thinking of it, I would love for the CPU to fight for me some times, because I think it's cool to creat a monster a watch him destroy.

My question is, does anyone think this is a good idea? Oh, and who would you pick to be in the league?

If we make something like a real e-fed where we actually wrestle instead of talk for months, I will be extremely pleased!
If PWX makes itself a fantasy federation and makes some brands (or servers) with belts, levels and stuff - I will personally own each and every newcomer who dares to step up to me!
IF YOU WANT SOME - YOU WON'T GET ANY!
  1.
I like your idea. My fingers are so quick with the controls I would destroy everyone. So just line 'em up & i'll knock 'em down.
  2.
Personally, I'd do it more like the NWA, have a bunch of regional promotions (including one in each of the seven main areas) plus also having national and international champions that can defend the belt anywhere in their area. To make things easier, instead of doing a tournament, the original champions could be people like Dave and the others that helped make the game. How about that?

It sounds interesting, but Dave and Co. could NEVER host a WWF, WCW, ECW, etc type server.

Why? They don't have the legal rights to those companies. WWE doesn't play around, they like to take people to court.

Also, they'd have to BUY servers to run something like that.

I like the idea of territories. An on-line league could be very fun, but could also be a pain in the rear to get programmed correctly I would assume.

With that - if you have a custom theme set for your wrestler then they'll have to add a default theme and custom theme button so when your online the default theme will play for the person you are playing while you'd hear your mp3 playing.

I never thought about belts... but if they're in the game I'd assume you can mod them. Not sure how that would work online. The WWE games allow you to create a belt and then wrestle online with it and if you lose its taken off you... but with a game that lets you mod anything what would stop anyone from duplicating the same belt 50 times?

I'm not sure about the leagues. If you say it's possible i'll take your word for it - but City of Heroes is a pay per play game to keep the servers running.

I don't like the idea of first come first served with real world wrestlers because anyone new to the game a month after release is going find he can either be Steve Blackman or Funaki and think 'this is rubbish'.

We'd be better off creating our own leagues offline in excel and getting everyone who has joined up to play each other online and provide a screenshot of the result to prove they've won then the owner of that league will update the rankings and announce who can wrestle for the federations belt - you send the winner of that match the belt file you have created and from then on they defend that belt against whoever the owner tells them to and if they lose they pass the file across.

One idea that the pwx guys could run is if they rent or buy a server and then have a league of their own running on that. We all sign up and agree to pay something like $5 a month to be part of the league - all the money goes back into paying for the server. We do the same thing for a Call of Duty 4 clan where every member throws £5 a month in to pay for the server costs.

I don't mind paying $5 a month to play this game online. I've been waiting for this game for 5+ years. Whatever it costs...i'll find the money every month & i will pay it if it comes to this.

Monitor IS right on this. The WWE protects their product with their life. They will come at you with everything they got. I've read/heard stories over the years.

I think Monitor has it wrong...
The servers will have nothing to do with the WWE! It will just be servers with fantasy wrestlers we create ourselves. Which we then battle with in fantasy servers with fantasy titles and fantasy stuff - no copyright infringements or the sorts...

If it is all fantasy wrestlers that is no problem. If you have a server with WWE or NWA or any other REAL LIFE wrestlers, then you can get in trouble is all I'm saying.

Could we dream of having fantasy servers the way we described them above - with fantasy feds and stuff and me kicking everybody's a** back to kindergarden and winning each and every title and becoming the legend of online wrasslin? Huh? Can I, huh?

Monitor is totally right. History has shown that companies can be held responsible for the user created content on their servers. Even if we wanted to we just don't have the $$$ to fight such a legal battle. Look at the Marvel vs. City of Heroes situation a few years back. If it had been WWE vs. WishboneX we would have been slaughtered.
