1) Mod Squad *************************
Monitor was right. Modding a game is a hell of a lot of fun and it seems like a lot of people are eager to take Uprising, tear it down, and rebuild it with new characters and venues. I am 100% behind that. So I'm going to take the experiment I conducted with Monitor (that resulted in the swank Starman mod you saw last week) and extend it to include everyone here. I'm uploading the texture files for Tirador as well as the ring mat. Take em, change them, abuse them, make whatever the hell you want out of them and if you want to see your creation in Uprising just email them back to me and I'll post screenshots of my favorite mods in the next newsletter. Maybe even on the PWX site itself. Just remember to save your modded textures in .png format and don't change the dimensions. The idea of this now very public experiment is to see just how easy it will be for most people to mod PWX games with just the raw textures themselves. Ultimately we plan to give people helpful instructional material as well as the original Photoshop source files with separate layers, UV layouts, the whole deal.
Monitor did a great job with his Starman mod and I can't wait to see what the rest of you can come up with. Use your imagination. Go nuts. And feel free to post any questions you might have about the mod experiment on the PWX forums.
Oh nice. So the funding for that tv show we were going to make a game for just got yanked. We have a meeting with the broadcaster about still doing a game for them on Wednesday but who knows how that will go. To make matters even more interesting our primary investor denied us marketing support for Uprising. You'd think that would make me upset but quite the opposite. Still, we've got some hurdles to clear as a result...
3) Link of the Week ********************
Ha! Ever feel EA has ruined football games with their monopoly of the NFL license? Well someone is actually SUING them over it!
Hulk Hogan appeared on Larry King Live this week and just dug his hole deeper. Hypothetical question, if Hulk Hogan could take back his son's car accident in exchange for him ever living his legendary pro wrestling career do you think he would do it?
http://www.thewrestlinggame.com/ hey dave, here's a link for next week's link of the week, since it's been a while since a new wrestling game was promoted on the newsletter.
Wrestling Game requires dedication. You need time and time and time and time and time...and time! If you play for 3 days non stop, you will have a less than mediocre wrestler! If you play casually for maybe a year, your wrestler might become a champion...
the one thing i liked about it, was the fact you can upgrade moves, either by experience (if you make them your signature\trademark) or by using money. and the fact you improve your finisher with each time you use it in a match. you should think of someway to add that to pwx. upgrading of wrestler stats and moves.
