Since Dave released the textures to Tirador and the ring mat for everyone to start playing with, AND mentioned that you could ask questions about skinning here....I thought I should get a topic opened up for that discussion.
For those that didn't see the link to the Tirador & Ringmat textures you can get them here:
Do the skins replace current wrestlers or are they added in?
The first question, I mean is it just modding the ring and the skins of wrestlers, or can we tweak values of damage, change the chair to a ladder (without ladder physics unless we can edit that in too) and amp up the damage. I would love to see some people accurately have the damage to a finishing maneuver and weapons and what not.
do it up Mon, I think I can pull off a Mean Chris Chetti
[cite] Monitor:[/cite]
[cite] snyperstyle:[/cite]Ok sorry for this guys but I gotta take it back to 1999 and philadelphia with HOLY shit!!!!!!
Wow....all of a sudden I feel like trying a Supernova skin....
This is strictly skinning, so cosmetic changes only. The skins replace current wrestler appearances.
That's not to say that futher modding may be possible in the future...I couldn't answer that. But, we've all got to learn to walk before we can run.
Thats right, Monitor. This is just the first little baby step towards testing the mod waters. Down the road this will all lead into the caw feature and give people the power to not just replace sins but import textures for completely new caws. Tweaking character stats and attributes will follow as well.
Having trouble figuring out where everything lines up on some of the files - especially the boots - any chance their is a 3d model with the arms stretched out anywhere so i can see where everything folds around etc.?
I'm sure the body won't work right - I'm thinking i needed to have more of the scorpions part showing that leads into the parts on the legs - which is another problem - if i put the scorpion with the curve on the leg - how will it mirror over for the other leg?
Eventually all of those types of helpful files will be released. Right now part of the experiment is to see what people can do with NO documentation or help.
What you have looks pretty darned sweet so far.
It's difficult for all of us, since none of us has the ability to pop the actual texture in and see how it is shaping up.
I just slapped the face and torso on another mod with black tights but so far so good. Nice job! The Scorpion will be tough, no doubt, because it needs to line up across the trunk and the legs. If I understand your question properly, the right leg won't mirror automatically because you'll need to manually paint both legs if you want it to.
Nice looking mat, too! Funny how so far almost all of the mods are either for original content or classic WCW, WWF, NWA stuff. Says a lot.
whoooo.... that looks pretty sweet - i half expected the face to balls up as i had no idea what the stuff in the top right was.
Quick question - the grey areas that i left blank on the right side of the body image - was that right or is that area used for some part of the body?
With the legs I'm really confused - in the zip file there is 1 leg file named "Tirador_Legs" which from looking at seems to have the knee cap on the middle right side, under that the beginning on his boots/shin area and on the left side of the image i guess would be the back of the boots and back of the leg.
I thought it might automatically mirror to both legs but if it doesn't should there be another leg file? I could just load it up in photoshop myself and mirror the thing and save as 'left leg' if there should so it won't need a re upload.
Thank you for testing and uploading that image as well - i can kinda see that the upper attire needs to be tweaked here and there... the sides seem like they should be higher up and the scorpion less stretched vertically and with more of the body on show.
[edit] - Just noticed the ring! haha... looks great - i added shadows for the ropes but i don't think i actually needed to looking at the screenshots on the site so ... meh. For a test it looks great and it was so easy to do as well. I can see this being a big hit for role play federations - especially those like myself who use WWE games to record matches and then find that the WWE have contacted youtube and have had them removed.
I'll have a go at the rest of Sting today and then see about starting some others.
Ignore the question about the 'grey' below the tirador mask - i showed it to the GF and she pointed out it was skin and my colour blind eyes were to blame!
I can't wait to see your new mods. Thanks! But I'm going to be drowning in cost report work for one of our investors for oh the next thousand years so please forgive me if it takes a few days before I can upload some new pics.
[cite] eXecutioner X:[/cite]great job KRadiation...any chance that you could make rvd or Awesome?
speak of the devil..
File contains completed mods of RVD, Christian Cage and Hawk/Animal http://www.freewebs.com/kradiation/CageLODRVD.rar
Not really sure who else to have a go at now - i keep saying to myself 'that's the last for me' and trying to stick MGS4 on but a few minutes later I'm itching to have another go at someone. I was wanting to have a bash at Nash and Vader but it hit me, the height/weight would be all wrong. :(

Your LOD looks awesome. Great Job!!! I can't wait to use these guys in PWX.
I got lost what to do with the facial hair for Animal - i have no idea where the layers overlap and lip under the chin so i just copied the fading stubble around and hoped for the best.
I have a feeling a lot of the leg designs will be off - the red thigh area of the shorts throws me as well because i never know if i should add a design to that or if the leg file will just overlap over those parts.

Well what you did with what you had to do it with was pretty damn good. I am very impressed. Imagine if you had more to work with. I am truly impressed because I am crazy about the Road Warriors & they look pretty damn close like themselves.
Remade Sting using as I found a better quality scorpion design - the old one was really small to begin with so became very blurred when I stretched it - though once I'd done the scorpion I then found a better face and ended up re making the entire mod. After that was done I was on a roll so I made Jeff Jarrett, AJ Styles, Black Machismo, Muta and La Parka.
My freewebs account is full so I've had to upload them to a temp upload site - I hope they work
yo KRadiation i'm not sure but i think you should ask permission from the creators of the textures you used from nm. especially since the juice doesn't like his work used or changed.
Very nice. This makesme think back to the Nitro PC game. I use to edit the wrestling images for that all the time. Man, that's got to have been ten years ago.

You need permission to USE the textures from No Mercy? I can understand permission to re edit them and submit them as playable complete mods for no mercy - like if you want to make alt attires - but i need permission to experiment modding a pwx chararcter in an unreleased game? I seriously doubt any of them have asked permission from the WWE to use character likeness and copyright logos in the first place.
The texture files I've used for these tests are mainly no mercy mods and files from the WWE games and a few other games that i then play with to fit the pwx files. I've had them on the laptop for ages and use them as references when making caws. When the games released in any form properly and we have the ability to look at the mods on our own screens im pretty sure no mercy files will be useless as their too small and end up blurred when you stretch them to fit the PWX files. Just looking at the 'in game sting pic' above you can tell the body texture is blurred and the singlets shoulder straps are extremely blurry .
But for an experiment i thought they were worth playing around with - saves a lot of time starting from scratch and trying to make a pwx mod - it's just to really show what CAN be done with the game, not an attempt to release fully fledged mods to a community.
I think ive done enough now to show the pwx guys what they can expect from fan made mods and no doubt they'll be able to show the mods the fans have made off to 1. excite fans around the world about the game and get them interested in PWX and 2. get any investors/big wigs who are worried about the lack of licenses and so on hyped.
I have some more mods on the pc (scott hall, stone cold, the rock, hhh, hbk and terry funk) but if it's going to cause problems then i'll leave them there and use them privately with uprising.
------
Quick Question
Are all the wrestler texture files basically the same?
Basically if i make 20 mods when Uprising is released, and i use whoever's character files are in the game, say it's Tirador. Could those 20 be used later in the full PWX game and saved - or will i only be able to use the files on Tirador?
I'm sure i read that Uprising will not have a caw mode - but i assume we can still mod that ourselves?
The texture layouts are the same as far as I have seen (Aside from the Tirador that is being used by everyone, the Starman one I did was on Canadian Destroyer)
I'm not sure what you mean about modding a CAW mode for Uprising. If you are asking would you be able to replace skins to change the default wrestlers the answer to that is yes. I'm not sure how moddable the rest of Uprising will end up being (as in changing movesets on the defualts) yet....those questions will be hard to answer until a final product is released and in our hands.
As far as modifying No Mercy mods for use in PWX, where people usually get into a snit in those situations is due to credit. As long as you inform people of whatever sources you used in the skins, I think that should cover most hard feelings that might arise IF YOU ARE RELEASING THEM TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. If you are doing the mods for your own use, you are the only one that really needs to know what work you put into the mod and where you got help.
Maybe i didn't explain it right about the files in uprising...
Let's say Uprising comes out with 2 wrestlers and i can then take those files and mod them and re import them and load the game with different appearances. I don't mind them having default movesets or whatever... its a 'demo' so it doesn't have to be fully customizable.
Are those 2 characters using the same basic template - Is the Canadian Destroyer the same as Tirador other than the appearance... if you get me. Are they basically using the same base and the only difference is the colours and designs. So if i create stone cold and HHH and AJ Styles on tirador, and i then copy all of those files and save them over say the Canadian destroyer... will i end up with an identical 2nd character or, if the files are different, will i end up with a glitchy looking mod.
Basically - so if i create 50 mods using Uprising - what are the chances that the files will be of some use come the final game.
All I can answer from experience at this time is that any mods you make for the Tirador skins will also work on the Canadian Destroyer.
Looking through past screen shots and the selection menu (DAVE....REMEMBER TO POST THAT PIC THIS WEEK!) I would think of the 8 characters that are going to be in Uprising, the mod skins will also work on Nocara Jr. and G-Rush.
Now for Dane, Troop, & Scotty Mac, all of those models have hair, so there'll be at the least an additional texture. Finally Cesey is female, so uh...yeah, the mod skins won't work on her model.
Excellent question. We actually thought ahead on this and every character, regardless of gender or body type, share the exact same uv layout for their textures. It means that a texture made specifically for a skinny wrestler might look a little stretched out on a fat guy but if you design all of your textures optimized for a standard body type like Tirador then they should look just fine on any other character, even the females. And we fully intend to use these character models for some time to come so the texture mods you create now should be fine for the final PWX and any expansions there after.
well KRadiation i didn't say you should wait for their permission, but, at least state you didn't make the original textures, that you just edited other people's work.
i know from my experience in the nm community, people hate seeing their work on another forum, no matter if it's released or not, with out their name on the post. it's childish, maybe, but they made it.
so i just said you should save yourself that headache and just give credit where credit is due.
Unless you mean to give credit to each and every modder who dragged the textures from whatever game themselves and created the body files - i have no idea whose files i downloaded and what forums i found the RAW pc files on and what forums i downloaded the face packs i have from ... it was that long ago

actually i did mean each modder, since some of them draw the textures themselves, and i meant you should have done it in the first post where you posted the mods.
anyways, the only guys from my mods that i can convert is william regal or brock lesnar, and for that i'll have to reinstall photoshop.
I cant remember if this has ever been said anywhere and i didnt want to start a new thread for it... Do wrestlers have entrances ? and if we create our own wrestler can we use custom music for their entrance themes?
