    1) Well...
    *************************

    ...fugnuts

We got turned down for some major funding this week. The funding in question was intended to give Uprising away for free in exchange for promoting a Canadian wrestling show. Obviously the crew is devastated but all is not totally lost. We we're invited to review the proposal early next week and re-submit, which we will. We could still receive the funding before summer.

I also had a nice meeting with one of our previous investors on Wednesday to discuss the distribution plan for Uprising and, as always, money. Uprising is ready to release as is, but we told them we very much want to increase the amount of downloadable content before we release instead of just dumping Uprising on the market and not offering anything new for months to come. This particular investor is still contractually committed to giving us another cash payment because Uprising we delivered to them (and a traditional publisher has accepted delivery of Uprising and offered a publishing contract) but I implored them to consider letting us make more downloadable content and if at all possible give the game away for free. They said we should do whatever we think is best for the project and that they would not sabotage it by holding us to previous funding requirements.
    That was good to hear.

Still. We have bills to pay and people need jobs. Funding is important.

So it looks like the most immediate scenario will see us releasing Uprising shortly as a typical shareware project (ie. Free demo or pay for full version) as we intended in late 2007. We will pursue our other options in the meantime and we haven't given up on the free distribution model. I took someone with me to the meeting who has a strong record here in Canada with game companies. He told the investor, "They could release Uprising now and do ok, but I have specifically advised them not to. It is in the best interest of the company and their fans to develop more downloadable content and give the game away for free if possible."

So that's where we are. Wish us luck.

    2) Link of the Week

New info is available on the upcoming TNA game and it looks...odd. Button combos for finishers? Pointing out that pressing buttons make things happen? Seems a little odd but here you go:

And if you're a fan of super sarcastic funny fanboy baiting I suggest you browse gamefaqs and other forums for posts by a guy named "Muka". Easily the funniest guy in the import wrestling game scene so far. I'll get you started:

    3) Question of the Week
    ************************

No Question of the Week this week because I'm writing this from someone else's computer and I don't have my forum login with me. Doh!

In the meantime and in-between time, that's it. Another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

    Thank you for your support,
