We might be a few days before uprising is released and yet there's nothign to even mention an update since august '06 on gamespot.
i don't know about you but if i was trying to promote my game i would have at least posted a few updated pics once every couple of months on all of the major gaming sites. so yeah i get it the crew is busy, but don't put the engine over advertising cuz with no people to buy this game all your work was for nothing! (well except for you cuz you will sure play it)
Screenshots of a forthcoming game usually only do one of two things: raise expectations or lower expectations. They can't really lower expectations, since noone's heard of it, and they can't really afford to raise them.
If the game comes out of nowhere and it's actually not that bad, then you've got game sites recommending it as a nice surprise. If everyone knows it's coming then you've got it being reviewed as a full-fledged game that has to compete and suddenly it's not as good as the others. There's also the possibility that it gets overlooked, but they can control that environment.
Also it's kind of difficult to advertise when there's no publisher. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's their job. And a couple of pictures on Gamespot isn't going to get that job done.
well i disagree. as of right now, PWX looks like a dead project on game spot. the last screen shots were from aug' 06. so a guy sees that, he just forgets about this game and moves on.
and you need to put some thought into it, you must first create the PWX page (already done) and then post the demo (uprising) in the news as a demo. the thing i mostly disagree with is the fact it'll come out of nowhere and people will like that. you see if people don't even know of this game or confused it with other games (as seen in another topic) they won't even look at it again.
plus, i thought uprising was self published, so the advertising rests on the PWX crew. and the main point i'm pushing for this is that there were (and maybe still are) tons of vids on youtube that claim they are pwx, (we all know them) and the only way to set the record straight and give people the real game is by publishing the vids on an official site such as IGN and Gamespot.
that way people know which vids are real and which aren't and will be able to judge the game for what it is.
