    Hey guys,

I'm just putting together an update for the Uprising FAQ. Please post any questions you'd like answered here. Thanks! Here are a few that we plan to add already:

Q: What are the minimum system specs?
    A: Recommended specs are:

    Windows XP
    Pentium 2 GHz
    2 Gig ram
Video card with Direct X 9

However, so far we've had success running Uprising on machines with as little as 256 megs of ram and Pentium 933 MHz. My old workstation I bought four years ago runs it just fine

Q: How many characters are on the Uprising roster?

A:Eight so far. We have announced six of the wrestlers (G-Rush, Tirador, No Cara, Cesey, Troop, and Dane) with two left to announce. One of the characters was not designed by us and we just have to tie a few things up before we can announce it. Hopefully we won't have to remove the character.

Q: Will there be a free demo of Uprising?
A: Yes, there will be a free demo featuring two characters only. The demo will be free to all and you do NOT have to pre order Uprising to get the free demo. That wouldn't make very much sense, would it?

Q: Will Uprising have keyboard support?
A: Yes, you do not need an Xbox 360 controller to play. The keyboard works just fine.

Q: Regarding the character not designed by you; Is this a fictional character?
Sorry, I better not say anything else about that situation until it's resolved.

Q: Will texture swapping be the only modding we can do?
For now, yes, except for minor stuff like menu graphics, audio, etc.

Q: Will there be background music or just the mat sounds?
There is background music that you can change during a match.

Q: What type of rope mechanics are involved? (i.e. can we tie people up, is there a rope grapple type thing, punch a guy into the ropes etc)
No rope interaction yet but we built the ropes to take that into account for future development.

Q: Figure four leg-lock around the ring post?
    Sadly, not in Uprising.

    Q: Blood?
Yes, but it's not staining the mat. Just a simple particle effect at this point.

Q: Moves from the inside to the outside of the ring and visa-versa?
Yes, a powerbomb from apron to floor is an example of something we have working in game.

Q: Finally fixed the ring and rope shake effects?
    You bet. All done.

Q: Are there changeable camera angles or is it predetermined?
Yes, the programmers have done some stuff to bust our Fire Pro style pan and scan camera into something a bit more exciting. It's very cool to see things from different angles such as from high up on the balcony.

Q: When does it come out? :D:D! lol u knew someone had to ask
No worries! We're just negotiating distribution with a few different companies now. The sooner the better...

Q: Will their be tag team matches or just singles?
    Singles only in Uprising.

Q: Will PWX come out in 2008?
A: The full version? I don't want to make any promises and jinx it, but all signs point to yes.

Q: Any ballpark figures for a skin viewer/editor? Or is one even in the plans?
A: Hopefully before summer. We need to build out for the CAW feature anyway.

Q: Are springboard moves planned for future versions? Smackdown games irritated me in that for the most part, they lacked this.
A: Yes, we have a batch of them animated and ready to go in but for now they'll only be springboard strikes and even that will have to wait until after Uprising.

Q: Is there any form of chain wrestling in Uprising?
A: Not yet. We developed our animation system with chain wrestling in mind and a great deal of the grapple moves, submissions, etc. have been animated with chain wrestling in mind. So we're ready to develop that feature as soon as possible.

Q: Are chairs available as weapons for Uprising?
A: You bet. Weak, strong, and downed strikes with a chair are possible.

Q: Will the apron be accessible at all times, as a separate standing point? Smackdown games also lacked this for the most part too.
A: Yes, you can stand on the apron and do apron-to-ring grapple moves as well. You can run back and forth on the apron, climb turnbuckle from apron, etc.

Q: How many moves & taunts in Uprising?
A: Each character can taunt standing, on apron, with weapon, and on turnbuckle. I haven't counted the moves but there aren't tons of them yet. Hundreds?

How many moves & taunts will be in PWX?
Q: Depending on time and money, as many as No Mercy. Hopefully more, but they all have to be done by hand and some animations (like submissions) can take up to a week each.

Q: How easy will it be to configure the Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for Uprising/PWX?
A: Xbox 360 controllers are supported by default. Piece of cake.

Q: Will the eyes be a separate part of the face or will the face be static?
A: I'm not sure I understand your question. Are you asking if the eyes are a separate mesh?

why are you so worried about a tool for skinning? i plan on doing the old fashioned way that i'm sure the crew does it, using photoshop. just like in no mercy.

    oh and here's a question

Q: will the eyes be a separate part of the face or will the face be static? cuz it'll be diff for me to mod the face and eyes separately and that would also mean i'll need to start searching for eyes.

Oh I know you do the actual skinning in photoshop, or paintshop, or another type of paint program. A tool that you can easily put your skins back on, and have them all pulled off is what I am talking about. Not a necessary tool, but one that makes things much easier.

Not everybody can afford programs like Photoshop.

Yeah like 600 bucks for photoshop??!?!?!>_< It makes me want to download it off a P2P thing. Whatever happen to the days when programs used to be like 40 bucks? That's why it's been hard for me to get started in graphic design, stupid programs costing wayy too much.

Photoshop elements is still expensive for folks who don't have a lot of disposable income, but it certainly is a better option for the average consumer than the professional variant. I believe it generally runs from $60-$100 depending on which version and where you buy it.

$600 is expensive, but if you're planning to make a career out of using it, that's a reasonable price, just out of the reach of many hobbyists who just want to edit together some graphics for a video game :) Of course there are less functional free and shareware tools available.
  2.
Will we be able to program our tag teams to perform their finishers with each part of the tag team doing their respective part?

For example, say we create the Road Warriors, will we be able to designate the Doomsday Device as their finisher & for Hawk to perform the flying clothesline off the top rope while Animal has the opponent on his shoulders & not the other way around?

Also will we be able to program a tag team to perform their finishers during a match often? For example, in real life the Road Warriors performed their Doomsday Device about 92% (educated guess) of the time during each of their matches throughout their entire career.

Oh i just noticed i'm sorry but i didn't even realize this was a Uprising Faq, but i won't ask more questions about PWX but about Uprising. Sorry but Thank You for answering them!

I myself have no problem with all questions being asked, but I just noticed Dave called it the "Uprising FAQ." I hope we aren't 'botching' it up by including questions about the future of PWX.

A: Moonsault, Splash, and more to come

    Q:Can you do con-chair-to?
    A: No sir, not yet

Q:Can we do Grapples while holding a weapon in Uprising?

Q: Is the Canadian Destroyer in Uprising?
    A: Yes.

InTheZone, all questions are welcome and I'll do my best to be clear when answering with regard to Uprising vs. Big-assed PWX.

A: Xbox 360 controllers are supported by default. Piece of cake.

Okay so i can plug in my Xbox 360 controller when i want to play PWX & i can unplug it & put it away. No need for fancy configurations right?

    Just pluy & play!!!

    Right?

    Thanx.

    Q:How is the revesel system

Q:Have any other arena Ideas in mind for the full game(I do, if you like them)

Q:Do you have a good idea on how to do a differnt tag mechanic(even doe you didn't start it.)
  4.
I'd have to re-enforce the question about arenas. I remember seeing an early shot of a Japanese mega-arena and a large American one.

Q: What's the bio and inspiration for each of the wrestlers?

I usually don't care about the default parts of a sandbox-type game, but I'd be interested in how each wrestling archetype is represented. I know you've got a prototypical Canadian (obviously) and a luchador. I remember hearing something about a Japanese character, but I wonder if they're of the strong style, junior style, the really crazy face-painted mist-spewing variety, or some sorta hybrid. There's also Hardcore, Samoan (come on, there's always a Samoan), European (not sure what that would entail either) and the showmanship of the American style (possibly with a finisher that's a ridiculously simple move with theatrics).

Yeah, um, most of these are nationalities and not styles. 'Samoan' isn't a style, neither is being a luchadore. For every Juvi Guerrera there is a Fuerza Guerrera, for every Mistico there is a Negro Casas.

Also, I thought you guys were building for lowest common system a while back, the system you explained is what my brand, kind of pricey laptop is.

    Hey Spunk,

Those specs were the recommended specs to run all the fancy eye candy flawlessly. The game runs totally fine on my old crap-station with a four year old graphics card. Once we do some more benchmarking we can announce the bare bottom requirements as well.

Yeah, um, I wasn't talking about 'style'. I was talking about archetypes, which in professional wrestling mostly boils down to nationality. 'Style' is just a moveset, which is something different. Not much different, but different.

Hey, if you want to break it down to movesets, go right ahead. I'll do as I please, thank you.

Style really isn't just a moveset.

Shin'ya Hashimoto and Toshiaki Kawada had similar moves yet worked completely different styles.

I like marlasinger's idea, and in my opinion it's not worth getting caught up in symantics or whether it's "style," "moveset" or "nationality." Those are just the broad classifications of wrestlers, fairly stereotypical, and I think they would serve greatly if these base classifications were in the game to be built off of.

Q: Will each move have a unique reversal, or will it be categorical, such as most Smackdown! game grapple moves being reversed at the initial grapple with one animation?

(That might be asking for too much, but it's something that would make the game feel very smooth and the action fluent, if each move had a reversal either into a new move or into a position where a new move may be performed.)

Q: WILL JOHN CENA BE IN IT?

    No seriously um...

Q: Will you provide tools for people to take snapshots in game? Like a movable/zoomable camera? What I had in mind was that plus a snapshot mode for CAW that lets you pose the character in some way and replace the background (so people can easily crop out the CAW and use it in some sig or banner.

    Obviously not for Uprising but...

Suppose we have a 3 way match or so. Player 1 has Player 2 in a rear sleeper while either standing or sitting. Player 3 comes up from behind on Player 2. They apply a sleeper. Will this be possible or impossible (and is it possible within your coding framework to someday do?) So basically multiple submissions is what i'm asking simultaneously.
