so what have guys decided regarding this topic? will pwx\uprising have the annoying sliding? or will it have rope interaction?
for example, you try to body slam a guy near the ropes, will the both of you just slide back to the middle of the ring or will his legs hit the ropes and get hurt like finlay does.
also either way will this be an option? like if you like sliding you can choose that, or choose RI.
Annoying sliding is 100% confirmed! But if it's any consolation we have rigged up our ropes with a real-time physics sytem that will allow us (at some point) make rope collision as interactive as we all want it to be.
I think sliding is a necessary evil in most cases. In a wrestling match the workers only perform the moves in positions which are safe to pull off the move without hitting the ropes. The trick is to somehow make the sliding as unnoticable as possible. Having working rope collision would be awesome if implemented into specific moves where hitting the ropes is desirable, but for everything else sliding should still apply.
I agree with the use of the sliding mechanism. Rope collision is not a necessity at this stage at all. I think the PWX team made the wise call on that issue.
So with the future interaction. Does this mean there is also ragdoll physics? Because i cant imagine it working any other way. And mad dogg. People suplex and hurracanrana and many other moves over the ropes all the time. (i guess the dont have to interact though)
I agree Payka, and I do think that moves like that, to the outside, and some other moves onto the ropes (snake eyes etc.) should definitely be included. What I was trying to say is that if I try to perform a standard suplex a little too close to the ropes, I would prefer a slide to resolve the issue then to have every single move in this situation get botched into the ropes.
a lot of wrestlers miscalculate the distance between them and the ropes, and you some times see the opp hitting the bottom rope with some part of his body.
also sliding isn't the only option to avid such things, even though they add a more realistic side to the game. (mdickie's games, had it figured out, sorta.)
you can always add to some problematic moves the option to move either to the middle of the ring or closer to the ropes and cause the move to be performed to the outside. that way if you're doing a powerbomb, and you're too close to the ropes, you can rotate while p2 is on your shoulders and hit the move to the middle of the ring, or you can go closer to the ropes and throw him to the outside.

That would be glorious. Very, very awesome and free to control.
it'd make royal rumbles a bit easy. not that wrestling game mechanics have the whole royal rumble thing down, though. throw him into the ropes, hit him so he falls to the apron, hit him again. repeat 28 more times.
yeah if you add to my idea the fact that the longer you hold a guy, the higher the chances he'll free himself and reverse your move.
so in a rumble for instance if you held a guy too long in the air, let's say n a crucifix powerbomb position and you finally got to the ropes, he would free himself and drop kick you out of the ring. or at least to the apron.
this will add much more not only to rumbles, but normal matchs as well. if you're in a fatal four way, and you have 2 opponents on the outside, you can grab the last opp in the ring in a military press and throw him at them.
