Options make a game more appealing, for the simple fact that if a gamer doesn't like 'the way it is,' there is a chance to make the game 'the way it should be.' I've expressed my own gripe about matches in most games ending too soon, which drew mixed responses. This is just another example of where OPTIONS are important to the appeal of a game; I won't be frustrated by the matches ending too short, and others won't be frustrated by matches running too long. This is just the beginning of the idea.

If PWX implements as many OPTIONS as possible, it will help the appeal of the game to even the most avid and picky gamers. I figured we could use this topic to raise those features of the game which we believe should be optional, and possibly describe whether the system of option is toggling ON/OFF, a slider, or whatever the case may be.

    OPTIONS

    -Damage meter
This would inadvertently affect match duration, as it dictates how much damage must be done before the final pinfall/submission can be obtained. I believe a sliding meter would be the best method here, with one extreme of 'low damage,' - meaning a wrestler would only have to take minimal damage for a match to end - and another extreme of 'high damage' - obviously the counterpart. This is ofcourse only a general trend option; wrestler's abilities and statistics especially would still be integral in deciding resiliency (Funaki will require proportionally less damage to be defeated than Hulk Hogan, regardless of where the sliding meter is set).

    -"FIGHT" font
Some users have raised this point, that the "FIGHT" font appearing before a match should be optional. This would work on a simple toggle system of ON/OFF. Alternatively, different beginnings to the match could be toggled on; "Fight" font/ring bell/voice over/whatever else.

Feel free to add other options which should be considered by the PWX team, and I will do so again in the near future.

If you add a sliding scale for damage, first please add number marks along the scale and second make plenty options for this. I remember SVR2007 did this pretty well with having tons of things you could manipulate, but in reality, finishing moves still could be kicked out of late in the match by the computer. Weapon damage should be extremely high already, same with finishers, but adding the scale should act like a multiplier for damage. To make a cool looking, and accurate squash match, you should be able to pretty much hit your finisher and the match ends, so up the finisher damage to 5X (max). In hardcore matches, weapons should not be as powerful because they are used for the entire match so keep those at 1X, but in a regular match chairs pretty much level someone on the first shot, so 3X. Etc etc. Enable a scale for counters by computer, enable a scale for how hard the computer tries to win (along with an internal scale for the AI as well that has set strategies to win - wear the opponent down, quick pins, cheating).

All of those scales would just be options already in the game with the gamer being able to manipulate them and they would give you that edge over all other games, quite fast. Hell, with that scales along the amount of YouTube videos would triple.

One option I have always wanted in any video game is the ability to change the menu music. This could be tracks that are already available on the game, or your own songs that you want to be playing. This also goes along with being able to select your own music for intros, but I also would love being able to decide what menu music to listen to. I especially feel this way after having to listen to the music on the newer smackdown games. They only have just a few songs, which aren't really that good anyway, and they have them playing over and over and over.

I'm sure I've read before that in the final version of PWX we will be able to use our own music for the menus and for entrance themes. However the .mp3 license is going to cost to much so all of your music files will have to be in the open source .ogg format.
