What will be best suited for PWX? A gamepad or the keyboard?

If you have a game controller, it will work. The game is designed around a 360 controller. PC controllers are pretty common though, they all have about the same amount of buttons and they all come with configuration software.

A PlayStation controller or a USB-extended X-Box 1 controller could work as well (same amount of buttons, minus that ridiculous X button in the middle), right? I bought a USB-extender for PS/PS2/N64 controllers and I don't want it to go to waste in PWX, you know.

Should work no problem. Especially if you have the software that normally comes with those types of programs so you can customize it.

Yeah have the programs hopefully the controller that I have will work
  2.
NOT every controller will work. The controller has to have enough buttons to map out to the control scheme of the game. I asked Dave about using an N64 controller & he said it doesn't have enough shoulder buttons (required shoulders buttons 4, N64 controller has only 2 shoulder buttons). The Microsoft Xbox 360 controller (wired or wireless) is a great choice because thats the controller the PWX teaming has been using since day 1. Make sure you get the Microsoft brand controller only since third parties controllers are almost always crap.

    Well lets compare controllers.

    360: A B X Y, Dpad, Controller Sticks 2, Start, Select, LB RB, LT RT. 11 Buttons, 3 Directionals.
    64: A B, C-L C-R C-U C-D, Z, Dpad, Controller Stick, Start. 8 Buttons, 2 directionals.

    Yeah probably not enough.

We've had mixed results with various controllers. So far the only things that work 100% are the 360 controller and the good old keyboard. If you're at all concerned about your controller working I'd suggest waiting for the free demo and trying it out before ordering the full version.

Personally, I like the Cordless RumbleMan 2. Best PC controller hands down.

The keyboard is horrible to use in my opinion for wrestling games. So cluttered.

I have a Logitech PS2 style Dual Action that I use for emulation purposes, which I'm sure will work fine. If not, I can play with the keyboard, which I've become extremely fluent with when it comes to the AKI games. Playing Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 or No Mercy on a N64 controller would take some getting used to...
