1) Do I hear 75%? **************************
And so the fun begins of getting PWX Uprising carried on digital distribution websites. We started sending out Uprising to various websites that sell games online and so far response has been pretty good. The file size is scaring some of them (100 megs) but we can probably cut that down a decent amount with a bit more optimization.
The offers have been interesting. One distributor is offering a healthy 70% share of revenue. Another is offering only 50% but they are also offering to fund the next year of episodic content if we decide we want to go that route and let them distribute the expansions exclusively. So the good news is that we've got some offers and we'll be getting more now that we have something publishers can play. Still, nothing stopping us from simply offering it for sale directly from the PWX website.
This last week of development has been completely owned by the programming team and Eric who does all of the graphic design for the project. The programmers have been working weekends going on about 16 days straight getting everything done that we needed and Eric has been pumping out everything from game manuals to menu graphics faster than we can even ask for them. And everything looks just great to me. Maybe if I ask Eric nice enough he'll post a menu shot on the PWX site this Saturday. Hmm Eric?
So I'll be returning next week for a newsletter but since we're shut down for a week over the holidays there likely won't be much to report unless something amazing happens. You never know!
3) Link of the Week ********************
Looks like we'll be getting WWE games made by THQ and Yukes for a while longer yet. WWE was trying to get out of the deal by launching a nasty lawsuit against Jakks Pacific and it was recently thrown out of court:
Did you donate $50 or more to pre order Uprising? If so, please don't forget to send in the pic of yourself you want hung on the Hammerlock wall! The pics will be pretty small by the time they end up on the wall so don't worry about sending anything very high resolution. A simple jpeg around 100k will do nicely. Just send your pic to me at Dave@WrestlingGamersUnited.com and keep your eyes peeled on the wall in future screenshots!
Ok so it was a lame 'question' this week but we gotta make sure we get all of you guys in there before we ship!
In the meantime and in-between time, that's it. Another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.
