Hi guys,

We just posted the latest production trailer for Uprising. By 'production trailer' we mean that we are showing raw footage, warts and all, and it's not meant to be a polished promo trailer. We wanted to show you some new stuff and get your feedback.

Here's my take on the footage:

1) Still no rope animations. Dang. That's what the guys are working on now though.
2) Flying moves look odd and unnatural. We'll keep trying...
3) Bad frame rate in some of the shots. Hard to capture game footage without hurting frame rate though...
4) A camera shake effect that Sardeep LOVES makes some of the cuts look off. We're taking the camera shake out for release FYI.
5) Yes, the chair clips the ropes and that ain't gonna change any time soon at least until we get real time rope physics working and we all know how easily THATS going to be.
6) If you told me four years ago that PWX would look this good I would have never believed. Kudos to the art crew for pushing me so hard to raise the standards I set from "No Mercy looks good enough".

So what do you guys think? See anything else we need to address and fix up?

Thanks guys! Maybe it's just me but often all I see when I look at game footage is the faults. I guess we're all just too close to it here in the studio.

All of the moves and graphics look great. The only things that look off are the moonsault and the moonsault fall-away slam. There is not enough arch in the model's back when he is performing the sault. Take a look at some more moonsault references. and I'm sure you guys can fix it. Good work though.

PWX! PWX! PWX! PWX!

That was sweet. I liked the logo. I didn't like the moonsault from Troop, looked a bit robotic to me. Great to see more videos. Keep it up!

I have to agree about the flying moves looking unnatural, they connect WAY too fast in relation to something like that nice, smoother looking running crossbody. I'm not sure if slowing it down would affect the tracking, and thus the gameplay so...

*shrug*

Other than that, I was content with everything I saw. Hammerlock is lookin' mighty purty.
3.
Very impressive, guys! The first point I have to make is THANK YOU for making a proper Sharpshooter. This has never been animated properly in any wrestling game (at least all that I've played), including the ones with Bret in the game. That alone sells the game for me :D Now, if a proper Scorpian Deathlock how Sting does it (with his left arm raised high in the air and somewhat pointed to the crowd on his left side as he is turning the guy over, and then the way that he squats down) makes it into the game, I will probably have heart failure.

Also, I noticed some very nice animations on a majority of the moves. I agree that the moonsault could use a little work, but honestly I'm fine with it as is. The backbreaker at the beginning with Dane was very nicely done. It looked very painful.

Lastly, was that a train that flew by in the background? Awesome! :D And, great Uprising logo, by the way.

Love how it looks so far, the knee to the face was awesome! and the moonsault fall away slam was my fave.

The moonsault off the roof and the crossbody look a little sluggish, but other than that they're fine.
I love your animations more than smackdown, because they're not exaggerated and "floaty".

Good luck with the finishing touches guys, kudos to the crew.

I liked seeing PWX, but the video's been praised enough and my positives already expressed, so I'll just list some constructive criticisms. I will add, however, that I was stunned by the train moving in the background of the Hammerlock; sexy.

A lot of the moves notably need to be slowed down to make them look realistic.

Specifically, the fall away moonsault slam needs to be at it's slowest point as the two wrestlers are in the air, at the proverbial maximum turning point of the move. Picture the motion as a parabola, and it starts off normal speed there, slows down toward the maximum turning point, and then speeds back up slowly through the rest of the move.

The jumping moonsault from pier should have more arch to it and less of an unnatural swing. I guess using the parabola description above would also apply here.

Well...Dave does say in teh video description they'll be re-working the moonsault...so that is covered ground. I really like your explanation of the moonsault slam. Good idea for that!

I just want to make public my mark out for the rope burn move. It's not flashy. It's not super damaging or one of the 'cool' moves...but DAMN did it look good IMO.

Well, I was on the fence about buying it but I'm not anymore.

The graphics are as good as if not better than Here Comes The Pain, which is more than I'd expected, and the animations are better, too. The rope burn/trailing is perfect. The moonsault slam is slightly off but it's off by so little there's not even much to say about it. And was that a freaking train moving in that background?

Good job.

Dave I think I know exactly whats wrong with the Moonsault.

When you look at it, the guy jumps out. When you do a moonsault there needs to be upward momentum. Basically you have this.

What You Have

It's a straight propulsion system. It works great for dives, like Edge's Top Rope Spear.

What You Need

This is what you need. Flying moves, Like your moonsault and Shooting Star Press require a more ballistics trajectory.

The issue is determining which physic applies to which move.

Wow. A lot of good stuff coming from this video. One thing that I think needs to be added is ring bounce. There is just no impact without it. Maybe the sounds would make up for it but I think that you guys should really try to add some ring bounce.

Very good idea. I meant to put that in my post but it slipped my mind. I believe the moves would have a lot more impact with some mat bounce.

overall I am pretty impressed. I agree with mattjet about the ring bounce for more impact on the moves. it would add a very cool feel to it. I can't wait to get my hands on a controller for this game

I agree that some of the moves needs their speed somewhat adjusted, other than that it looks rather spiffy, i loved the way the wrestler released the sharpshooter. The Hammerlock and the Uprising logo looks great as well, and i guess I'm in a minority on this but i rather liked the camera shake for the double axe handle, the new TNA game uses camera shakes for their moves you know, *wink*..

Oh, will there be a *ding* attached to the knee to the groin? :)
5.
Honestly i hate camera shakes. I can do without on screen meters & i can do without camera shakes but if they do include the shakes it wouldn't kill me but if i had a choice i would do without them unless they really signify something.

Yes, a "on"/"off" camera shake option would be nice, anything to make the game as customizable as possible is a good thing, nothing to invest time in for Uprising though, maybe later on.

Great to see the Uprising logo isn't the flaming one Dave ;)

The animations seems like they could use more work, they still look like they're lacking impact, stiff, and robotic(ky). But overall, I guess seeing the game (finally!) come to fruition is definitely pleasing. Properly implemented shaking of the camera, sound, and added "bounce" to the moves would solve the impact problem.

Since I just got off work and holding a nice cold Corona, here's to PWX!

The game looks better than anything else on the market. Period.

Sure there are areas that could use a bit more polish (ropes, some move fluidity) but really, that stuff is not the most difficult part of the game, the action is.

I e-mailed Dave when I still didn't have access but I will readd the 4 things I am really hoping get added to the game. These are just personal things that could be added later on, but these additions will make the game for me.

1. Fluid Counters - My complain with Smackdown was the counters looked so forced until later iterations. And it's mostly due to laziness.
2. More High Flying Moves/Indie Style Moves - Watch CZW and RoH clips. They have some of the best looking moves that would be awesome in game like this and most importantly, I want plancha moves that look cool (SSP?) I LOVED seeing the Balcony moonsault because it gave me so much hope of a interactive environment like those indie shows.
3. Weapon Functionality - Dave stated he just wants a chair in for now, and really, that's fine. But I think the chair needs to be really verstile as in if a chair is on the ground, a suplex on the chair should be more damage. I would love to see a boot to the face, while holding a chair, register more damage since you just got the chair to face. Maybe have some Sabu, RVD, and Raven moves using the chair. ANY of these would put PWX head and shoulders above anything we have seen before.
4. Customization - Modding runs PC Gaming communities. Successful games last forever when the community can mod as they wish. As nonprofitable as it sounds, Dave should either release an editor for the game for programming savvy like myself or at the very least release the source code a few months down the road, and ADVERTISE THIS HEAVILY. The community would explode and the game would get so many purchases just for it

Again, these are the things that would blow all other games a way completely. As of now, I love the way it's looking. I REALLY hope the final product supports customization of all PC controllers, but it looks like a purchase for me. Hell, I'd pay $30.

Since the clips show mainly power moves (with the preliminary tieups conveniently edited out), I think it’s best if I refrain from giving feedback and criticism until some longer and more substantial footage is released.

mostly this looks incredible.. the moonsault is iffy but on the other hand it looks better than half the flying moves in the newest Smackdown vs Raw, so that's still great.

Looking forward to rope animations.. I never would have guessed how important they were to the overall feel of the ring, heh.

Hey guys. Geat video!!!
I just have one HUGE problem. Troop?? Is he supposed to be a G.I.Bro rip-off or what.
Actually, I don't really have a problem with that, it's his hair. Are those cornrows or a freaky mo-hawk??
That's it, like I said, great video.

just so you'd know, this vid isn't on the PWX site.
