In reference to Screen Shot #124:

Now this thing looks like a real wrestling game. If this is what the game is actually going to look like then I am happy as hell. Great Job!!!

Not only do i like the way the overall game looks but i also like the little touches with the FIGHT...The 1, 2, 3 count, it's those little things that bring tears to my eyes!

The looks kinda remind me of Aki's No Mercy except the images are much cleaner & crisper & that's always a good thing!
  2.
depends on which nm you know, and yeah I'd have to agree, those screen shots look great.

As much as I love those screen shots, I must say I hope that the ring ropes get some texture before the release.

They remind me of the old WCW ropes.

We know we're going to be doing some work on the ropes and I'm sure Darrell won't let them out the door without some kind of texture.

i have a question for you even though it might have already been answered(sorry in advanced) but I was wondering, I seen the table near the doors in the "Hammer Lock" and i was curious how interactive it is going to be. Is it going to be like the anoucing table in NM where it stationary but can still collapse?
  3.
i have a great rope texture somewhere on a psd if you need it.

Aren't the towels on the ropes just asking for a bit of unnecessary programming? Lose em!!

Yea the towels have been peculiar. Do they move? Are they stuck? etc etc.

The game looks pretty badass so far, it's got a WWE Day of Reckoning look to it.

That font for the "fight" word is pure awesome. Oh, and remove them towels, they just don't fit there, in my opinion.

And everyone is right with the ropes, a texture is needed. Other than that everything looks great so far, keep up the good work. :)

Gotcha, we'll lose the towels and texture the ropes!

Woo. Fan suggestions work! :D Glad to hear it.

I dunno if you saw my other thread but will the final build of PWX (not Uprising) support rings that aren't 4 sided?

Dave, I gotta disagree with MYNAMEISED. I think the towels are a nice touch and very fitting for a wrestling training facility. I don't think I've ever seen that in a wrestling game before. I'm sure they don't fall off when you hip the ropes, or anything super dynamic like that, but I think they really add to the atmosphere. I say keep em.

I do have to agree with everyone and say the ropes could use a nice subtle texture.

I don't think it's wise to compromise the ring rope physics just for the sake of having a towel no other game has, honestly.

Is it possible to make the font such as 'FIGHT' etc. optional, so it can be turned on or off? Are options like that tough to incorporate, or are they simple? I figured as long as these 'options' are easy to implement, the more the merrier.

Would anyone on the team object hugely to me making the credits under

'Got rid of the towels on the ropes in the Hammerlock'

because that would really make my day.

"I don't think it's wise to compromise the ring rope physics just for the sake of having a towel no other game has, honestly."

I may have missed a post by Dave, but I don't see how the towels are compromising ring rope physics? If they're causing major bugs or whatever with off the ropes stuff, then I'd say axe the towels, but if they're not causing any programming problems I think they're a nice touch that really complete the "training facility" atmosphere.

I have to agree with everyone else about the "FIGHT" at the beginning. I see why you guys put it in, but I'd either take it out or at least make it optional. Also, a bell ringing sound would serve the same purpose of letting the players know the match has begun but be much more authentic.

I'm just guessing from my limited knowledge of programming, that it might complicate the rope physics because you would need to animate the towel moving along with ropes.

I definately agree with your idea to use a bell instead of / optional rather than the 'FIGHT' text.

You know what be a cool little include in this build since the hammerlock is a training center?

Instead of an audience, we have one gnarly old dude on the ropes yelling at you like Mickey in Rocky. So when it says Fight, the gnarly old dude says it. "Fight Ya Bum! Do ya Want dis or nat!"

Now i won't buy the game unless this is included!!!

Actually, that is a very cool idea. What about also having some guys in the background training? Some could be lifting weights, some could be doing pushups, and maybe jump rope as well. Now, this is something I wouldn't expect on Uprising, but maybe something to consider for the full game.

Also, I'm personally fine with "fight" being shown at the beginning of the match. There isn't anything wrong with it.
  5.
now i agree to one guy, but guys training in the bg is just stupid and would take tons of cpu just process them do stupid things.
  6.
    That'd be great.

If you're getting completely destroyed he could jump on the apron and scream "What are you doing, ya bum?" Same could go for the computer opponent.

Eh. It'd be a cool option, at least.

Ha! That's actually an idea that would be fairly easy to put in place! I'm afraid most people are going to want a lot more depth of gameplay though before they let us tinker with a feature like that.

Oh, and for those wondering if the "Fight" graphics and other on screen elements can be turned off here is what one of our programmers had to say on the topic:

"We can easily make that optional. As of now that stuff is setup in script so they could just comment it out but currently we have nothing in the menu to disable it. For the mod community, the images could easily be swapped out to use custom content as well through script as of now. We could also add a feature to swap images through the menu as well. It really depends how much support you want us to extend to the mod community. All really basic stuff on our part to setup and wouldn’t take long."

The more moddable the better, IMO.

you can easily change that fight graphics to an empty texture. but i'll keep it.

That's fantastic to hear. Not that I absolutely hate the text on screen, but my preference is without. That's great that PWX can do this; giving us our preferences. This means PWX becomes a flexible and deep game, and in my honest opinion, I have to say it feels good to finally have wrestling game developers listening to, catering for and giving a damn about their fans.
