What 3D engine is used to create the characters in the game? Is it in some way possible for fans to contribute with character design, like with drawings? Or, pherhaps even in 3d?
Indeed modding will be a killer aspect of this game. I'd like to do it but heh I got out of CS after 1 year at Waterloo (Suicide program). I just wanna make the old school blue bar cage and stick glass panels where the holes are lol. Then when they get smashed make it possible to climb out.

That sounds like such a brutal and original idea. Well done.

Thank you. It just seems like fun. You get your blood. You get a cage match. You get broken glass. Good times for all
Sorry if this information allready is somewhere on this site, but: How can we mod in the game? I know the guys are busy as hell now, but hope Dave can answer this soon.

Got plenty of character ideas I'd love to add...

Nothing has been said yet.
I seem to recall them saying that they were using 3D Studio Max, but I could be wrong on that.
As of right now I'm sure that we will be able to mod textures fairly easily.

It will probably be similar to making a skin for the Sims or Freedom Force.
This is a possibility that excites me personally, because you should be able to get some very in depth, personal skins to create just about anyone who has ever laced up the boots, or will lace em up in the future. You'll be able to go into some very intricate detail for apparel and gear this way.
I say just about anyone, as skinning depends on the number of meshes and styles of meshes. By default I know they are planning on having a good number of different meshes, and what they don't add, I'm sure the community will as time goes by.
i was actually wondering about this, what are the texture templates the game uses? like how are the meshes divided? upper body, lower body, head. or is it more like no mercy? if we had just those basics i think we could start modding right away.
Ah, being able to create and share content would be ever so sweet...
But what I actually was wondering about was the design of in-game characters. I read that there would'nt be a create a wrestler mode, and have seen just a handfull of characters (?). How about fans creating and submitting original characters for the PWX crew. Then they could pick out theire favorites to work on for future editions of the game?
The possibilities, if this game is somewhat open for adds and mods, would really make this the ultimate wrestling game experience! Logos, arenas, characters, title belts, textures... And when online play becomes available sometime in the future, there could pherhaps be several wrestling promotions, rankings, promos, alliances. Just a little brainstorming here, he,he.

Uprising will lack CAW as its pretty much a demo.
PWX will have CAW though which is good. I'm sure we will be able to trade content easily. I predict within the first 3 to months of release we should have ROH, TNA, and WWE total conversions and Japanese ones coming quick as well much like FPR sees.
hell with unlimited roster, you can have all of the mentioned brands. and yeah, it'll suck not to have a caw in uprising, but the raw for pc demo didn't have it either. you only had the rock vs kane, or kane vs rock. so i guess if you want to change the texture of the uprising wrestlers, you'll just have to play a bit and see which wrestlers they resemble the most and then make him.

Need I say more? Don't pretend this comment was on topic. Let's drop it. It's just stupid.
In order for PWX to truly be succesful, a vibrant and very active modding community will be an absolute necessity. I think the moddability of PWX should be one of the top priorities of the crew. The game must be made as easy as possible to mod. If in-depth hacking is required then it will result in only a small number of modders working on the game. It may not be realisitc or entirely feasible but I think the crew should look into packing some sort of basic software package (along the lines of something like the Elder Scrolls Constroction Set) that would allow users to easily import their own content into the game through a simpler to use graphical interface. PWX only needs to be a fairly basic game with a fairly limited roster, even the movelist could be cut a bit short as long as time is given to make a package that allows modders to easily insert their own textures, animations, and sounds into the game. PWX needs to be designed with modding in mind and the sooner that we're given formats for textures for wrestler skins, animations etc. the sooner the fanbase can start modding extra content...even before the game is released.
Agreed. Just please make it so the modding aspect is easily modable as possible. As I stated elsewhere, the Elder Scroll games show the benefit of an easily modded game. Morrowind, released in 2001 or 2, is STILL going to this day because of the modding community, and Oblivion is on the same path. It makes the game a great buy no matter how late you come to the party, so I see no downside to it.
I dunno about skinning tools as much. Wrestling games are about appearance, moves, and realism to the actual "sport".
So really, I think adding a HUGE pool of RoH, TNA, CZW, WWE, ECW, and WCW moves (or patches) would pretty give us non-technical modders, ie those who can't do coding or the tougher stuff a shot. I really am more interesting in about customizing a wrestler in game by giving them new movies if I want, or something along those lines.
Wow, I never been so excited about a video game in years.
Well Assuming we are quite a bunch of preparing our 3d skills in view of this glorious goal. How about a serious gathering, a page on the forum or a playlist, whatever for the modding community ? animations, charracters or else ? if not to help right away just to show our support and examin different results ? does such place exist ?
I think the mod community can't really do much until they have the game in their hands. But we're happy to support the mod scene in any way we can at any time.
Im mostly thinking about a video and pictures show off. anything were the making of arenas, objects or moves is concerned i made this short render to kind of show the idea. Beeing really inspired from kenta lately I tryed doing his rush. Got it backward from the spinning chop to the high kick tough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmwcxD5MrU8 Little ragdoll physics used too but there is already too much of it
I like that animation very much. Not a fan of ragdoll just because in wrestling the falls are pretty standard across the board except with giant spots like falling off ladders.
True, I use them as little as possible now tough, I got to admit than it doesnt help much Not like doint a single move so this one took me hours but I didnt see the time go by.., The foot work is tricky and it is one the most important part of all so I practised it myself wich ended up pretty good while I worked it for 2h on a dummy's plastic support filled with sand to keep in still.
I swear between theeses line that I wont rip off live, :) if ever I want my own version it wont be the same, I know that's important.
the busaiku is complex too but I just used video support for that, no dummy will do and no friends wants too try the experience.
Now Im doing kind of a Kenta Vs M.C compilation with a better arena and using what I learned so far. 4 clips yet Im compiling the fourth one right now.
