First, hats off to Dave and the crew for making the deadline and getting a great response for the version of Uprising they presented. I wouldn't blame them if they slept 2 days straight after the hours they had to put in to meet that deadline.

Second, where does this put things as far as Uprising goes? I'm sure with the deadline and all they didn't get to squeeze every last thing they wanted into the version of Uprising they presented to their investors, but it would seem that they have now completed at least a functioning demo of the engine. It's pretty much been a quiet-before-the-storm atmosphere on here for the last few days. There have been few posts since Dave announced they were working toward the deadline. I think this is because everyone assumes now that Dave and the crew met the deadline, we should get a fairly accurate estimate on when Uprising will be available to us and when that ever elusive game footage will be popping up on the site. So, just in case Dave (or anyone else) is wondering why the boards have been pretty quiet the last few days, I'll put the questions out there for him (or anyone else who thinks they can answer them) that I think everyone is wondering about.

    1) Is the demo you showed the investors the one we'll be playing?
    2) If not, what are you looking to add before you release it to the public?
    3) Can you give us any sort of projected date we'll be able to play?
    4) If you still can't give a projected date for the demo, when do you think the next batch of game footage will be available to us?

    Hi Jake,

Thanks for the post and accept my apologies in advance for the short reply. Despite meeting the deadline we're still getting rocked hard. We've got a CRAZY important phone call coming in tomorrow morning but equally important is the visit were getting Friday morning from a Live Arcade agent. Keep your fingers crossed that he likes Uprising enough to consider pushing for it on XBLA. So to that end we're still very much busy as hell. Can't afford to sleep for 2 days just yet!

    To answer your questions:

    1) Yes, with minor tasks still to be completed mainly for marketing the release. We may add just one more character based on a charity deal we're looking at.
    2) Well the core game itself is complete but since we're at least a month or so away from release we're going to try and squeeze in some more polish and shine.
    3) Well, you COULD play it right now but first impressions being critical we're going to hold off for a while yet. A month? If the crew had their way they'd wait another six months to keep making it look and play better and better but we're going to have to let our baby out into the world long before that!
    4) Since the demo is a good month away I'll try to get some raw footage this week or next to share.

By the way, I cannot thank the crew enough for the hard work they've done to meet the deadline. Again and again I want to thank them publicly. I have contributed absolutely zero to the actual game production with the exception of picking the moves, some lame character designs, etc. It's the guys in the trenches here and remotely that built this baby and they deserve more credit than one man can give them.

Awesome news about XBLA. We all wish you the best of luck with that and the big phone call.

That's a very classy move to be so outspoken in your praise for your team. I wonder, will we ever see any of the other designers on the boards? As someone who's toiled with making wrestling games (on a MUCH smaller scale) I'd love to ask them a few questions about the process and philosophy behind your engine.

Trust me this is getting published. Have you seen the crap they publish on the Arcade?

Awesome news, guys. That's fantastic that you might get it on the Live Arcade. Like I have mentioned before, you might also consider Nintendo's Wii Ware as well. They are REALLY encouraging small indy companies and developers to put their games on there.

Also, as much as I would love to have Uprising released very soon, I'm glad it will be coming out in a month or so, as money has been VERY tight this month and will continue to be tight for another month probably. My wife and I are switching apartments which is very expensive to do, then I have college to pay for again next month. So, we have a lot of catching up to do.

But, I WILL be preordering it when we finally get caught up :D
