I would like to know if Taunting will have any effect on a wrestler in PWX?
One of BIG problems i had with No Mercy was that a person who can't wrestle for CRAP can taunt away & get their energy up & grapple you & apply a finisher & win. I hated this.
Will taunting have any effect on a wrestler in PWX like No Mercy had?
I agree with what you all said above but in No Mercy when you taunted it was an ENERMOUS Gain & we're not talking a small 1% or 2% more damage that energy bar really got RED FAsT. I agree i don't mind a little gain but not like No Mercy Gain.
hey the nm system was perfect. how do think cena still wrestles? no seriously, he taunts at every freaking second he has. and like it or not so do many wrestlers, it's a way to raise stemina and momentum. like matt hardy taunting on the second rope before dropping an elbow to the back of the head.

so basicly nm got it perfect.
So thats how cena and hogan do it.
Well I believe the Hogan part because i've seen him do it for over 20+ years now but somehow i don't believe the Cena part.
You can't see me. 5 knuckle Shuffle dance. Fist Drop. You can't see me. Slam. You can't see me. Sneaker Pump. Top rope. You can't see me. Legdrop. You can't see me. Kick and FU. You can't see me. Pin.
John Cena gets the "Monster" Special Skill in Fire Pro R. Hogan just simply gets "Super Star", because BAH, he is OVER THE HILL and does not have a "Flexible Body"! BWA-HAH-HAH!!
I'm being sarcastic, though they both actually would get those respective skills in the game.
I think the diminishing returns system is the best way to go about it:
First few taunts give you something significant and get the crowd behind you. After a while, though, it should do nothing. Look at it this way: if you were at a show and a wrestler did the cut throat motion before and after every sequence of moves, would you give it a reaction? If he keeps trying to get the crowd to slow clap, aren't you just going to ignore him after a while?

That's a fantastic idea and analogy. It limits spamming of taunts, while giving a purpose, balance and a realistic representation of real life. Well thought out, I'd be very content with this in PWX.
Taunting will have an affect but it will be very minor and offer diminishing returns as BigCat stated. Once started they can't be stopped unless interrupted by an opponent's attack as in Fire Pro. Spamming taunts like in No Mercy is something we want to avoid in PWX for sure.
I think people are knocking No Mercy a little too much here. Taunting only boosted your momentum if you'd hit a move, if you'd just taken damage and taunted it lowered. The only problem I suppose was where you were thrown out of the ring and your opponent would taunt, but then you wouldn't be out for long and only a completed taunt raised anything. Boo all of you!
also in nm, the actual being out side of the ring while being taunted lowered your momentum and raised the opponents. so i think the actual taunting and momentum in nm was perfect. of course not in the normal and easy difficulties, but in the hard and expert where they were quite realistic.
