So my bf and I were talking about "Create A Gimmick" and what we'd like to make, and he suggested the following: 60 Minute Ironman match Wrestler's A and B face off for 60 minutes, and they each pick 6 wrestlers to back them up. After 5 minutes, one of those 12 backups is picked at random to enter. They can be pinned to get them out, but only pins against the 'captains' count as points.
It's not really an ironman match however, because after 60 minutes, they keep wrestling until one of the captains is pinned a final time, thus ending the match.
There's no need for multiple pinfalls or the ironman stipulation, if it continues regardless. I think having a match ALWAYS go for 60 minutes before any pin can be made is not a good idea, because there is going to be no false-finishes in that time.
I think it would work better, using your idea, if wrestlers A and B begin in the ring. Next, as you say, a random selection of the other 8 (4 extra for each team, rather than 6; I feel that's too many for one match) enters. The only elimination that ends the match is that of the captain, but there is still benefit in eliminating non-captains; this gives an advantage. Eliminations only occur over the top rope, to fully utilize the Royal Rumble style.
This is somewhat of a Royal Rumble Captain Fall, 10-Man Elimination Tag Team Match.
What's the point in pinning a captain then, if the score doesn't matter? I could pin the captain 20 times, he could pin me 0, then still win at the end... what's the point?

The pin at the end wouldn't determine the winner, it would just end the match. The points would determine the winner. I thought of it as being similar to how play is not stopped in a football game when the timer runs out, the current play is allowed to continue until a normal stoppage occurs.
There's a few ways you could modify this idea tho, and I think all of them would be good. I personally prefer legit pins to over-the-top elimination, and wanted to avoid actually having this confused with the Royal Rumble, that's why I didn't suggest that method ;) (I couldn't think of a better name tho for having people enter randomly over the course of the whole match).
Having eliminated wrestlers stay on the outside as lumberjacks would be kind of neat too. Initially we were thinking each wrestler would come in as 'interference', and leave after 5 or 7 minutes, but even if that were a stip, I like the idea of eliminating them early with pins. That gives a greater advantage to whoever has more folks from his team in at a time.

Looks like you validate the people who say wrestling is just guys in tights playing grab-ass. [/quote] I'm interested in wrestling because of the artistry of the whole production (ring psychology, promos, and the actual match), and the violence, not eye candy :p
I don't think I'm validating anyone's statements about professional wrestling by simply existing :) (Unless of course, they make a statement like "gay men like pro wrestling too!", I suppose I could be validating that!)
