It's the little details that always help to flesh out a character.
There's one I always make called Tesla Danger. Short, black combed hair, tan skin, a tanktop with old-school black suit suspenders, grey short-tights, black kneepads, black boots and the requisite white wristbands. Random choices that suggest 30's New York, though I randomly decided she's from Germany because you don't find that style in America anymore and short black hair on women always strikes me as German for some reason. Her moveset developed into a ring psychology that depends on cutting her opponent down with stop-gap, quick, safe moves until she can get in with the gutbusters and power bombs. And I made her a heel because the 30's New York thing suggests street tough morals.
All of that required very little thought. Just a couple of random strands tied together, producing a pretty good character I still insist on using to this day even though there's no real cause to. Emergent properties.
G-Rush. Face paint always indicates some sort of wildness. Maybe he rushes his attacks for the element of surprise. Maybe he rushes his opponents in order to get them into just the right position so he can strike. The former would require a primal origin, like Equatorial Guinea or the frozen north, the latter something more complicated. Or maybe he just thinks the Road Warriors are cool. I guess the thing is to hammer out a look and then let that bleed into the ring psychology and flavor or vice-versa. The worst way to make a character is to fill a hole because then you're just left with a filled space.
Wow this topic just ended ... G-Rush I would have put him inot an orange jump suit with some Numbers on the back Under a big solid P. Maybe an orange Bandanna on his wrist and a skully. To keep away from the racial infringement I would have had him a tag team partner, imagine that he's White, and wears the same Orange jumpsuit just different numbers on his back. Gimmick behind the Rush - simple they excaped deathrow and there on the run ... wrestlers should fear them, after all their convicted killers.
Hit the easy button for me .... man I wish I was here earlier when the discussion was still going on !
Are you looking for something quick & simple or are you looking for a complete overhaul? Here's a couple of ideas if you time to implement them...
Name: G - RUSH Hometown: Detroit, MI Background: Son of poor Brazilian immigrants, got into gangs as a kid, did some hard time early in life which inspired him to clean up his act, got into mixed martial arts due to his Brazilian heritage Style: Grappler / Cage Fighter Finisher: Submission style Choke using his legs
I like the idea of adding long dreadlocks, sideburns and a gotee. I would also add black lines under his eyes like NFL players wear during games held outdoors. I would lighten up his skin a bit and add tribal markings (which could have an appearance simular to lightning bolts), a large one across his back, a smaller one located between his pectoral muscles covering his heart, and "sleeves" running down both shoulders onto his forearms.
I would place black boxing trunks on him with white or silver trim, in a pattern that matches his tribal tatoos. White tape around wrists and ankles. tribal markings on side of calves, & no boots! You could add shoot fighting gloves simular to that which Goldberg used to wear.
