Sorry for the confusion! The pre orders we accepted a while back were for the full boxed version of PWX complete with CAW, story mode, etc. and we will absolutely still honor those pre orders when the boxed full version ships. This first release is a different thing and that's why it's so dang cheap to pre order. No worries, you haven't lost your pre orer for the full featured boxed version and it hasn't been replaced by this first little downloadable game were offering. Did I understand your question properly?
So a final boxed version is still in the cards then? Digital distribution won't be the only means of getting PWX?
I must say I was feeling like I knew what was going on but now I'm a bit more confused again. Will a purchase of PWX: Uprising eventually lead to a full version of PWX through downloadable updates? Or is this just a one time shot to raise some funds and get feedback on the foundation and engine of PWX?
If there are updates and lets say they cost $5 a pop leading to the final version. So if those that preordered a couple years back continue to support the project through PWX:Uprising and it's updates, then their $40+ pre-orders would basically just spare them from having to purchase the final update?
I hate to be stirring the pot and I probably have everything wrong here. But there is still a little confusion. And if I'm still confused I'm sure there are others.
A Limited Edition Boxed set is definitely in the cards and it will contain everything we've released up until that point plus more including the bonus dvd Making of PWX. And don't forget, we still stand by our promise to offer a full refund to anyone who pre ordered the Limited Edition boxed PWX if it turns out they don't like it.
Or is it just going to be it until a full box version is available in the future. One way or the other that should be made clear on the pre-order page and order page when the game comes out.
This raises an interesting issue. As I understand it, the "Developer Zone" will be an area to offer feedback as well as to prioritize areas of improvement. Reading the newsletter, I got the impression that when Dave mentions the possibility of frequent updates, he is referring to improvements that will be made in-house, based upon our feedback, and not necessarily improvements that will be implemented or playable in the "mini" version that we purchase. Have I assessed the situation correctly?
Sorry to leave you hanging. Sick as a dog over the weekend.
The plan right now is to release minor free updates to Uprising as we progress towards the full PWX boxed version so that you guys can continue to test things as we go. But if for some reason things take off in a totally unexpected direction and people prefer to purchase expansions on Uprising instead of waiting for a boxed version (I'm not too sure thats likely though) we would offer full refunds to anyone who pre ordered the boxed version. But hell, I still want to get boxed versions made just so I can put one on my mantle! But first I'll need a mantle...
