Wrestling Gamers United Newsletter #831

Pay Up!

Yo! Sorry the late newsletter this week. Just got my head out of the tax man’s ass and can finally come up for air. Funny how it doesn’t matter how much or how little money the game makes in a year it still takes the same ‘fun’ amount of time and energy to get all of the year end corporate taxes compiled, audited, and submitted. It also doesn’t seem to affect how much it costs me in accountant fees.

Although I don’t think it will come close (knock on wood!) to the nearly $10,000 it cost me the year we completed the Telefilm funded project years ago. On the bright side, this year we applied for a lovely little tax credit that will pay for a lot of extra programming labour if we get approved so wish us luck!

PWX Mocap

Sooooo interesting follow up to our news last week about more animations coming to PWX after the engine update. Long story short, we’re introducing some motion captured animation to Pro Wrestling X. PLEASE DON’T PANIC! We are still doing all of the actual WRESTLING animation by hand the old fashioned way with our killer lead animator who’s done all of our animation so far.

We know you guys have all been dying for more moves to be added but with only one animator, no matter how awesome he is, there is always a pile of basic movement, reactions, climbing, etc. that needs to get done before he can animate the fun stuff like finishers. But it looks like we’ll be able to incorporate a large library of said basic movements from a motion capture library and free up our animator to just work on the fun WRESTLING animations. The crew has approved of the early test results and I think you will, too 🙂

16 Years!

Awwww yeah the 16 year anniversary of this very newsletter is coming up in a few short weeks and we’re gonna celebrate with the Twitch Gong Show to End All Gong Shows! You won’t want to miss this one. Exclusive new interviews, footage of past PWX prototypes from as far back as 2004, and who knows what kinds of surprises! Stay tuned!

Question of the Week

If you didn’t need money to live comfortably and could do any job your heart desired just because you WANTED to, what would you be doing right now that made you happier than hell?

In the meantime and in between time, that's it, another edition of Wrestling Gamers United.

It’s now 16 years without a finished game. Good grief.
